I know this site is a community of readers, but I also know that most of us readers are inspired and we go on to the next step. We write. I found a fantastic site called fictionpress.com where writers of different levels and style post their works in anticipation of feedback.
I was wondering if anyone here had membership on the aforementioned site?
if yes, would you mind taking a look at my works? ^_^
my pen name is: PandaPanda
I'd love to read some of your stuff too =)

I would think most people here or the anime/manga community would end up writing fanfiction before writing original stuff. Fanfiction.net is much bigger than fictionpress.com when I checked it a few years ago and I don't expect that to have really changed.
But to generalize that the fandom doesn't do more than fanfiction-type stuff would ignore the stuff that original, like web comics, but heavily influenced. But even the web comics that I can think of are like fanfiction, like ones I've seen with pixels of Final Fantasy or Rockman/Megaman.
Oh yeah, I think the mangaka-type hopefuls would go to webcomics or DeviantArt since text verseus art as a medium obviously has different feelings.

I actually skipped that stage and went straight for original writings. I never found interest in mingling with the lives of prewritten characters, although I do draw up fanart for my OTP once in a while ^_^
But you have a good point, I believe more members would be found of fanfiction.net than on fictionpress.com

Same here. The fanfic usually ends up near my stuff anyway. Though it has some strange things on that sight to read. I went to one of the other lit cons.

I had an account, but then decided that I didn't like the site. There was just way too much "crap" on it. Not that my stuff was any better. But there's so much, that it's hard for anyone to get noticed.

strangely alike to fanfiction.com
sounds more intriguing though...fanfiction.com specialize in what the fans want to write about their favorite manga/game/movies, so the stories on it are more dependable on the original source itself....fictionpress sounds more broad, and the members write their own materials, so the stories must be much more creative and flexible...
i think i'll create an account there and check out some works of my fav genre
