I've always been into anime and manga but I really got into it only after my friend introduced me to Naruto. With the help of Naruto, I began to realise that I can get all kinds of manga and anime through the net. I actually never knew that! LoL, I almost felt cheated that I didn't know this beforehand. Well, after knowing the this englightening fact, I started downloading my old favourites like Rurouni Kenshin and Slayers, then slowly began to get addicted as I download the newer releases.

I've been reading manga for about....4 1/2 years now I guess, ever since the bright yellow cover of Ranma 1/2 volume 2 caught my eye at the public library. Read all I could find locally, rented some anime (mostly Ranma) from the local comics shop, and then ventured out onto the net~ At that time I was still running on Win95 and 56K dialup, and had no clue about IRC until someone *lured* me there with color Yotsuba pages (ok, it was actually Try Try Try). IRC broadened my manga horizons considerably, and I've been reading anything and everything that sounded halfway interesting ever since.

Finally got DSL last summer, and dled some anime but haven't really gotten hooked on it; I'm much more hooked on Japanese "doramas" (Gokusen, GTO, Hana Yori Dango, Ikebokuro West Gate Park, Trick, Kimi wa Petto....just to name a few. And yes, I do realize that most of them are manga-based bigrazz ). Which is odd because I've never been much interested in US TV (maybe because most of it sucks...?).

I'm that one lonely "25-50" vote, btw. smile wink grin

Well, first time seeing anime would have to be Dragon Ball or Sailor Moon, but i have never liked them. I spent ninth grade in France, and for those who don't know France has a great comic cultur. Anyway, there i read Akira and on or two other things, but i didn't get hooked ( no source ! ). When i was 16/17 i think me and my brother watched NGE ( we borrowed the VHS from a friend of my little sisters ) and that was probably the first Anime i liked. After that i got Cowboy Bebop from a friend of my brothers.
Shortly before i became 19 i meet a anime geek in college with whom i moved together. From him i got all my anime in the beginning until i found out how to get Manga. I got bored of Anime pretty quick but Manga is still going strong. So i picked 18-23.

I don't really see the big difference between comics and mangas and animation and anime.

i started watching anime ever since i started kindergarden, those that were aired in hong kong (doraemon, pokemon, digimon, dbz, gundam and many other random anime roll eyes )then i started watching prince of tennis when i was 7. I keep wanting more so i went on the internet to search for the episodes. then i found out that many other animes that can be downloaded from internet and got hooked. biggrin
i started reading manga since ..i dunno when..but my brother used to read them to me (coz i didnt know how to read yet mad ). We read mangas such as prince of tennis, dbz, king of fighters, and other mangas my brother bought (you can find billions of manga shops in hk, 1 in each mall almost). I started to learn how to read and my official first manga was of coz, prince of tennis eyes
so really, got hooked with manga/anime bcoz of pot..(even tho i dun really like it laugh )

the first time i ever saw an anime show was when i started 7th grade, I'd just woken up early and while i waited for the time to come so i could go to school i watched tv. And that's where i saw my first ever animated episode of Sailor Moon, and then from there i fell in love and just watched what i could get, at the time i didn't even know that Sailor Moon was an anime, i'd thought it was a cartoon. ^^

and that was about 6 years ago i think. smile

since then i watched lots of anime series, but now i don't watch as much. As for manga i just started reading it one year ago, when a friend at my anime club let me borrow her two manga books.

I'd say it would be Dragonball Z. I used to watch it in the mornings in elementary school before I went. I thought it was a regular cartoon at the time. First subbed anime would have been Full Metal Alchemist. I saw the english version and i decided to get the japanese one too.

My first anime was DBZ. I think I was 9-10 years old when I first saw DBZ on TV. That was 11 years ago.

I got hooked onto manga only 1 year ago when I started reading Naruto. I enjoyed it and I started to look for other manga.

I've been watching anime since I was like 2 years old when my sister tried to shut me up buy putting a pillow on my head when watching sailor moon dead tho i can't say I remember anything of that. So then we moved away from Japan and I was oblivious to what manga/anime was until one day 1998 when i was 11 years old my friend showed me orotsukidouji (hentai/tentacles/blood) <.< so I guess that was my first anime or hentai

Manga only recently.
Anime on the other hand I had seen some ronin warriors and speed racer when I was really young and watched toonami on cartoon network since it had come out. I remember watching tenchi muyo and cowboy bebop. I really got into anime when I got dsl. I remember finding a lot of things that would never be showed in the states and other things that could only be showed in the states.

The anime that started it all over again would have to be Hellsing and then on to elfen lied. Then the snowball effect caused me to turn into an antisocial guy for a summer in which I saw around an anime a day. That was a dark time and eventually passed.......then came the hentai....that semester I failed 3 classes....oh god....the horror...the ...horror. none

The Scifi channel and Cartoon Networkin the mid-90s. At least I think it was Cartoon Network that used to run anime saturdays or something similar. My two favourite cartoons at the time were Gargoyles and Aeon Flux, and anime was really the only other animated things on television anything like them. I was 9ish, because I was staying with relatives and we didn't have a lot of that stuff back home (lol embargo). The first anime I actually watched regularly was Sailor Moon, and my first mangas were in anime/manga magazines my dad bought for me for my 12th birthday. Can't for the life of me remember what mangas they were but at the time I was pretty wapanese and would eat up anything like that.

no one read Doraemon.....I feel so old.......

The funny thing is, I thought ares6 was young since he has the Naruto and DDR avatar. ;)
