What should I read next?

Wakasensei  Member 12:39 am, Jul 2 2008 Posts: 332	Well, I just started Hunter X hunter, and that's pretty good(saw the ova's a year or so ago), and will probably start Hikaru no Go soon (got a bunch of both series cheap off of ebay), and I like reading a volume or two to relax before bed. But there are always others to start which I can read on my pc (i.e. during breaks at work). So what should I start reading? Of these, anime i've seen: Monster, Full Metal Panic, and Full Metal Alchemist, so wondering if the manga should be read(or just start where the anime left off in the case of FMA) Or recommend something from my wish list. Or something out of left field (i.e. shojo), just no sports or magic girl. Right now I'm leaning towards 666 Satan, cause it's by the twin of the naruto author, so might be similar(and Blazer Drive is starting decently). ________________ "because ninja who commit crimes can only be stopped by ninja who are even better" -Itachi

Catnapper  Member 12:46 am, Jul 2 2008 Posts: 3422	Monster anime is a quite good adaptation of the manga so, I don't think the anime left something out, still I haven't watched all the anime. Full metal alchemist anime doesn't follow quite much the manga in the last bunch of episodes (don't remember really where they begin to be different). Taking a peek at your wish list, I say Ibara no ou , Kimi no kakera and Level E are quite good picks too. Hikaru no Go and 666 Satan are nice choices too. Just seen the poll òÖ. I rate the anime as tied for second in comedy (tied with GTO, both after Fumoffu), only cause it's so short is it tied for second. And it's one of the few that had better English dub than Japanese(I watched it twice in Japanese before English). I'll wait on the Tora Dora until there are a few more out. and I don't know why I didn't put Black Lagoon on list, might bump it up if more people post recommending it. Thanks for all the responses and votes. Legen..DARY  Member 1:55 am, Jul 3 2008 Posts: 276	I'd say don't read 666 Satan, the ending is horrible because people were saying its a copy and stuff, so he wanted to end it quickly.. I'd say stick to his new series =] I'd say Flame Of Recca, Onikiri Jjyuzo, Full Metal Alchemist, MX0 and Kurozuka are the ones I recommend. [Though I overall choose Flame of Recca =D] Now that I look at it, You have ALOT of good series on your wish list.. Full metal alchemist, read the manga as it is be written, the annime was good, but it ended to quickly. Black lagoon, is good but i am still waiting for season 3, but it is a really sick series, good watch. Golden boy has a good anime. Local Prig Member 4:36 pm, Jul 3 2008 Posts: 1891	Monster is pretty much copied and pasted to make the anime version. I'm fairly certain it's an exact adaptation. Fullmetal is probably the best option, only read the whole thing, since the manga is considerably different from the anime (seriously, Dante doesn't even exist). I still prefer the anime by far though, since I found the second half to be complex and morally interesting, rather than remaining the same action-adventure show. Black Lagoon is very good. Unless some people who never voted all vote for one of the others that is. From July 14: ok. FMA done! Pretty good, thanks for the recommendation everyone. Since I've seen Monster the anime, I think I'll skip the manga for now and goto Mx0, or maybe 20th Century Boys, since that's in high regard.
