I was about to start ranting about how unrealistic and silly harem manga/manhwa is in another topic when it suddenly occurred to me that I knew someone in the same situation.

About three years ago my friend had (at least) four guys in our high school club with crushes on her. There were wacky adventures, like trips to the archery range and to a festival, she even got sent a dozen roses on Valentines day. It was totally clear to most casual observers who she would end up with in the end, though each participant was completely clueless. She sat next to him on the long bus ride home from our club trip and they may have been holding hands but only because they had been fighting earlier. It was over a year before they made any progress at all. If that doesn't sound like it's right out of a generic harem manga blueprint, I don't know what does.

So, have you ever seen anything right out of a manga? Has anyone ever fallen over and had their lips meet another's? Or waited all day for your date to arrive in the rain/snow only to catch a horrible cold and have them nurse you back to health? Or had your past reveled, leading you on a quest for power and such. These things seems to happen on a daily basis in manga, but do they ever happen to you?

Well....

I used to live/work in Tokyo in the past.... and I've had some pretty 'mangalike' experiences.... but they weren't as funny or over-the-top as those you read about.

I've actually had a real-life, "Kyaa!! Ecchii!!" scenario. biggrin

Really? I did that a few times to the girls I knew. It was really by accident, and they didn't beat the crap out of me like they did to other people... in a way, it was a good thing for me I suppose. =P

...but I had a lot of the "misunderstanding" moments which led to me always getting hated by people who I didn't help or something... and then they realize that I couldn't help them because something more important came up and then they're just not mad at me anymore.

... you know, those types of cliches.

I saw guys accidentally exposing their panties (I had the "ecchi" thought) many times. Why doesn't that happen offten in manga? They should add this into reverse harem manga. XD

One time I tripped and all the papers that were in my folder went flying in different directions. Some person that was passing by helped me pick them up.

My friend was talking to me about how this girl ruined her day and she goes "Ugh god if only Nicole hadn't showed up my day would have been fine". Then she keeps on going and I start going "Um um um" and murmuring her name and I point behind her and the girl Nicole is standing right there listening to everything. SO awkward.

I went on a trip with the dojo and stuff, everything was nice, we drink a bit, have fun messing up with some other guys, everythin' was fine until the next mornin was dreaming with the girl i liked and stuff, woke up pretty happy until i opened my eyes and watch on the bed in front of mine our sensei (an old man 50 years old aprox, bald and with a goatee) in some leopard underwear scratching his balls since then i have nightmares ._.

it was a friend's birthday and i was giving him his present. while he attempted to kiss me at the same time i attempted to kiss him. but since we both attempted at the same time our innocent cheek kiss turned into a real kiss. (though you can't call that a kiss, it was only lips meeting each other.) just like from silly shoujo except i didn't blush, he was very embarrassed since her gf was there, too but we started laughing like crazy afterward.

Well naturally manga (and anything written--such as Shakespeare or even "chick flicks" ) is going to have some basis for truth in it. They just tend to push things to an exaggeration unless it's people getting together slowly. I can believe that.
