I'm looking for a manga where the main character has either a talent, power, or ability that they discover or gets discovered.

Like in Katsu, where he discovers his talent for boxing. Or how they discover Yukio's singing talent. kei's ability to play the piano in piano no mori. Maya's acting ability in Glass mask.. etc

It can be any kind of talent, sports, acting, modeling, etc.

No oneshots please, the longer the series the better. And I dislike the mangaka of katsu (so none of his works).

maybe Holyland.... not exactly talent, it's more like instinct.

If you want something a bit more over-the-top or shounen-ish, Eyeshield 21

Beck for singing/music.

Perform a search for sports manga..... probably loads of titles like these.

Hikaru no Go -> more fitting [go player]
Skip Beat -> [acting]
Suzuka -> I don't like it tough [track field]
Mx0 -> sort of [magic user]

I thought about reading hikaru no go, but in my head I compared it to other anime/manga series about games(like yugioh/beyblade/etc) and decided against it.

I've read suzuka/mx0 and skipbeat. But I havent read eyeshield cause I'm not a big football fan.

Now, it doesn't have to be a shounen series.. though is what I'm asking for considered a cliche/hallmark of shounen series?

Brrrr... you just compared one of my fav manga with the worst crap ever... please read at least one volume and I'm sure you'll change your mind. You can also ask some people who read it and I'm sure they will say the same as me.

That aside, if you don't want a shounen, maybe something like Gakuen Alice, which is also about magic ability or Mahoraba, novel writer (but it's not the main theme).

I agree with reid. Hikaru no Go is worth reading. For all its pretty childish, it still really nice. Its actually one of the only non Action/Horror manga I like. XD

Anyway...
07-Ghost
Piano no Mori
