Has anyone seen this anime and how would you compare it to the manga, seeing how it does not completely cover the story?
Does it have an alternate ending or just stops in relation to where the manga is?

Yeah, I've seen it, but only the first 6 and last 2 eps..... the ending's different.
I still prefer the manga, though.
I'm not exactly sure where the anime ends relative to the manga.

In the anime, the kid continues living with the guy and his family.... almost as if she's become part of it. It may be due to the manga being incomplete when the anime was made... i dunno for sure.
In the manga, she goes back to her mom in the end.

Well the information site on this site says the anime "Ends at Vol 6 chapter 23 ". So I was wondering if someone who has read the manga could tell if the anime just stops at vol6 chap 23 or if it has its own seperate different ending.
From your info it sounds like the anime just "stops" based on the reason you gave.
But yeah 9 times out of 10 the manga is going to be better then the anime.

You better be thankful ....I can't believe I'm discussing a shoujo manga.
I just went through vol6 ch 23 for you on a online reading website......
Like I said... I can't remember the exact scenes in the anime, it's been so long since I watched it.
I'm sorry, but that's all the help I can give you..... try waiting for a regular shoujo reader to see this thread.

I'd the last ep is similar, if I remember the anime ending correctly.... You could say the anime ends midway at ch23, with Yuzuyu happy at the Katakura household, a day before the transfer student arrives at the guy's school.
IMO, the anime uses the best possible spot to end, considering the manga wasn't complete then (I think)

I thought the animators portrayed the anime quite well in relation to the manga. Back then, the manga wasn't complete so I understand how they had to create a makeshift ending but the rest of it was simply too awesome for words. Of course, I still prefer the manga if I were to choose between them but you have to admit, they really followed closely to the manga. The designs were nice and the voices were good. You don't see a lot of that these days.
