lol i agree with both of you, tbh tho i suppose that, considering the insight into their thoughts that we were previously given, i dont quite feel that their ending thoughts fit. i thought daisuke would man up to 'become a suitable man for her' instead of wishing she would find someone else who was 'more mature' in the future. I also disliked the fact that they seemed so adamant that they would 'have to break up' ... it was still most definitely a worthwhile read, but the ending was a bit of a letdown.

Sad it's so sad when a good manga ends it leaves a void (that only more manga can fill )

a first the ending bothered me too but i also reread it and could find a closing in it.
all in all it's a really good manga

p.s.
as fan service a one-shot with a closing for the rest of the characters would be nice

It never said "They break up in the future", it was there present selves belief that the relationship cannot last. Also if you notice both thought the other would leave them, so if you think about it they probably never broke up.... There ya go a happy ending for all you people that need the ending to be happy and with no questions left unanswered...

For those that are still unsure about the ending, both are still thinking that they are not good enough for the other person, and that they will eventually be replaced with someone better. It's not that they want to break off the relationship (it's clear that they both care deeply about one another), it's just that they don't have enough self confidence in themselves to believe that they would be able to stay together forever.

Personally, I believe that as their relationship grows they'll come to accept it and realize how good they are for each other. I really don't see them every breaking up, and I think they're both strong enough (even if they don't realize it yet) to weather any difficulties as they appear.

I really though the ending was done very well, and I didn't find it unhappy in the slightest given everything we learned about the characters from the onset.

The ending IMO was very good. I am glad the ending left on the note of a possible break-up rather than a fully sweet happy ending.

For me, Aikawa and Daisuke's relationship was not about love, but healing eachother wounds.

Aikawa learned that there are men out there who will love her and accept her for who she is despite her painful past and Daisuke learned to be concerned about others,to be empathetic, his empathy and love for Aikawa brought the best qualities in his character. Both will retain the growth they have attained in their relationship even after a possible break-up.

Would have Daisuke loved Aikawa if it weren't for the fact that she was raped and sexually abused and got pregnant twice? Would Aikawa have loved Daisuke if he wasn't "different" in her limited POV(because of her limited unfortunate experience with the males) than other men?

Aikawa's love helped her cope amd get out of her shell at her most vulnerable time. Daisuke's love for Aikawa made him a better person. I guess thats why its special. This "love" helped them soothe eachother pains and grow out of it.

Overall a good manga.

Only some small flaws imho (like we never got to know by what Kazuki has been hurt) and a little too fast pace. And I sort of hate how much passive Yuzu has been. But the plot was very good and highly compensate for these flaws.

Also I think the ending has been rushed a bit, and such a sad story should have gotten a happier ending. I don't see why they could break after all the efforts spent to be together.
If I think that such crappy stories get to last 15-20 volumes and this good one lasted only 4... I thought there were spaces for some more couples of volumes using a slower pace.

The ending was a bit rushed, and the least it could've been resolved was their feelings but not even that was resolved...Plus Aikawa's mother's appareance only lasted a bit, but it should've been important if the mother had a bit of impact in the manga, but she only got one panel. XD

Maybe this series was a little rushed in the end, but I think that is a lot better than so many series that you find nowadays that well overstay their welcome.

True, the ending sentiments of Aikawa and Daisuke were a bit irksome, thinking that someone more suitable was going to come through later in life, but the fact is that both are still scared spitless about the whole situation. This is a couple very desperately in love.

In a "perfect" manga, both would have lived happily ever after, had a nice family, Aikawa would have reconciled with her mother, her step-father would have been murdered by Yakuza or put in jail, Kazuki and Yuzu fallen in love with someone else, etc.

That would have been just wretched. It is much better the way it is.

You (and daed) echo my though exactly. I was very pleased w/ how the manga ended (Especially if the thing about the manga-ka having to cut the story short is true.) Bitter Virgin for me was like a shorter, seinen version of Mars ( mainly/only In terms of topic and mood that is ^_^)

probably not, it mentioned she transferred there to get away from her family. if not for the abuse they might not have ever met coupled along with the lack of growth their relationship gave each other

Overall, the ending was good, not brilliant...but it goes to show that they weren't devoted to one another when Suwa thought << I don't think they should be thinking that.
