Basically, the title describes what I'm looking for, I think I've found one thread in this subsection of the forum along these lines, but it didn't really help me, so made my own thread.

Hmm... I enjoy reading romances in general, especially when they're light-hearted and comedic, but I'm not a fan of the shoujo/josei artstyle. The only shoujo/josei that I ever really liked was Kimi wa Petto/Tramps Like Us, and that was just because the main character was such an awesome guy biggrin

So, recommend away. I realize I don't have a reading list, so that means the recommendations I'll get will be very general/generic, but I'm fine with that, hopefully I'll find a few gems that I haven't read yet. If you guys aren't sure what I exactly mean by a shounen romance, think Chrno Crusade or Angel Densetsu.

Ai Ren is really good. Yuria 100 Shiki is more light hearted. I'd like to second Mysterious Girlfriend X from above, that's one of my favorites.

Thanks for the replies so far, I've read pretty much everything you guys have told me except for a few.

Never gotten around to reading Emma because I think I read some comments about it being depressing. Read it just now after your recommendation, was happy with it. Very happy biggrin Seriously...could not find one fault with that manga, along with Akumetsu I'd have to say it's one of the best I've ever read. (Though it's obviously very different from Akumetsu in terms of genres).

Also - two people recommended Mysterious Girlfriend X. I thought about reading this, but then decided not to since I didn't want to be mentally scarred. Can someone tell me if it gets overly screwed up at any point, like...say...drinking a glass of saliva?

I just don't want to read something that insanely weird.

Most of the stuff I read probably has ecchi in them (I think that it lightens the mood). So if you dont mind that then check them out.

Ai Kora (not so typical male harem lead)
Ashita no Yoichi!
Ayu Mayu
Freezing (TSUNDERE! oh and an ecchi warning)
Hayate the Combat Butler (not really heavy with the romance up until now)
Kimi no Iru Machi
Nagasarete Airantou (not much romance developing between the main leads until now)
Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu (would probably be better to watch the anime)
Omamori Himari (cat girl that speaks old tongue, what more could you want?)
Sekirei (ecchi warning...)
The World God only Knows
Tona-Gura! (guess so...)
Toradora! (must read if you like tsundere's)
Kemeko Deluxe!
They are My Noble Masters
Umi no Misaki

Completed:

Da Capo
DearS
Love Hina (just finished reading the whole series last night (all nighter))
Midori no Hibi (if you like Love Collage, this is from the same author)
Suzuka (if you dont mind the drama... had a bit too much for me)

Doesn't have the Shounen/Seinen tag on them but I still think that they are (just my opinion anyways).

KimiKiss - Various Heroines (sweet 1 volume love stories)
Mahoraba (really have to put this down since it has one of the best endings I've read)

Did I mention that I also like harem? biggrin

First My Mysterious Girlfriend X doesn't have anything that weird in it.

I second Living Game if you haven't read it
Love Roma
Sanctuary
Outlanders
Kamichu!
Koi Kaze
and I would look over all of ADACHI Mitsuru's works.

@DemonicAzn: I also like harem mangas ^^ no matter how formulaic or cliche some may be, I've read pretty much all of them, so I've read every single thing you've listed.

Also: Ended up reading Mysterious Girlfriend X, it was...strange... but at the same time couldn't stop laughing xD A very "awkwardly funny" type of romance.

Thanks for all the help so far, and in case anyone is wondering I don't mind ecchi/smut, but I almost always stay away from mangas that incorporate full-out hentai.

I'll suggest the manga Superior. Its a pretty fun shounen fantasy with a good deal of romance.

I'll also suggest Kurohime. The romance definitely isn't the focus, especially through the kinda repetitive beginning, but it does develop later on

I've read both Superior and Kurohime not too long ago - I was being ignorant and holding off from reading them just because of tiny issues I had with them - like the cover for Superior seemed too shoujo-ish, and Kurohime seemed too cliche-shounen-ish.

I know...moronic...right?
Both turned out amazing.

As for the other two, also read both, am following Karin closely biggrin, and not too interested in "The World God only Knows". The main character seemed like...a bad version of the main character from Ai Kora. He was very damn determined...but about all the wrong stuff. Though in Ai Kora it was funny.

Also ; I ended up reading Love Roma. It was one of the few cases in which I forgave a manga for it's horrible art. Never laughed so hard before biggrin.

He gets handed a condom by his guy friend
"Thank you, Tsukahara, when I do use this, I will think of you. You're a great friend."
"Think of me? Are you serious"

Some titles that I enjoyed were:

Pastel
Parallel
Unbalance X Unbalance
Lilim Kiss
Ichigo 100%
Hatsukoi Limited
Bitter Virgin - a bit of a sensitive topic

Give these a try if you're interested

Read it and loved it, especially the happy ending that it had. Though I see how it might be a sensitive topic for others...I...frankly don't really care. Maybe I'm just an insensitive bastard ^^

Oh - and read the rest of them two, really curious about the outcome of UxU in fact, now that's he realizes he's in the middle of a love triangle.

edit: Also, would anyone else vouch for Hatsukoi Limited? Or is it just too inferior compared to Ichigo 100% which is the manga that followed it up.
