Tazmo has stopped charging money for downloads on Narutofan.com.

He has now opened TWO separate websites for downloading manga and anime, separately.

He calls them Manga PLUS and Anime PLUS. (manga-plus.com and anime-plus.com). He is still charging for said services, however, he has now gone out of his way to separate them from Narutofan.com.

Everyone please understand that nobody in the anime and manga community that works behind the scenes on the manga and anime supports Tazmo.

Everyone does what they do for free, in their own time. Every time this man makes money off of the work of others, he's insulting everyone in the community.

Make sure not to support Tazmo. There are many many websites out there that can help you get what you need, and, as always, there is IRC, as well.

Mangaupdates has a anti-Tazmo stance, and we want you all to know that what he does is not only illegal, but unmoral.

Always make sure you're getting what you want from those who actually did the work on it, or an authorized host. Always make sure to look for Tazmo's name, and if you see it, leave the website you're on.

Mangaupdates has tons of information to help you find what you want. As always, make sure to view the Stop Narutofan image we keep at the top of the main page, as it also holds important information for you to view.

If you do something for free, then some one sells it or worse takes credit for it, wouldn't you be pissed?

You think this is a joke?

You've been warned.

Why are you so passionate about Tazmo anyway. I hardly see any point in debating on a subject that exists only in the virtual world.

yeah.....again, sarcasm keeps escaping people here. I'm not going to piss off a mod who warned me 6 times in the past 12 hours........I think I'll just back away from this one........internet people....are scary....

Money, unfortunately, makes the subject pop up in reality.

It doesn't even make sense. He's taking credit and profiting from people who break the rules of copy right in the first place. This is a virtual world. It's fake. Now turn off the machine and go out there and get some fresh air

I'm not an expert on copyright law, but the translations in question are done by 1. Not for profit organizations 2. outside the country of origin and 3. in a different language than the original text. Unless it's a licensed title, I don't think the law applies (in the United States) due to no one owning the rights to the material in the area or language in which these translations are released.

Like I said, I could be (and probably am) wrong, but that is the impression I always had of the scanlation process.

1. Non-profit isn't an excuse to break copyright. However, the copyright holder can set his work free for non-profit use.
2. The copyright law of your own country as well as international agreements still apply (for every thing, not only the work of US citizens). The Japanese companies are simply in the misery situation that it takes to much money and effort to track down a little scanlation group in a foreign country.
3. Every translation without permission is a copyright violation. The origin and target language doesn't matter.

Every single part of a scanlation is illegal, even the fanarts (as it IS a copyright violation to reproduce the image of a character designed by someone else). There's no legal gray area but the copyright holder can (and does) tolerate it. And they only tolerate it because scanlators hold up to a kind of unwritten codex to do it for promotion and not for any money. All the more, it's important to make it clear to the leechers that they shouldn't buy scanlations for whatever reason. In the worst case, it will drag all down.

@ares6
The problem is simply that someone causes a financial fraud through misinformation and by targeting especially people who are new to scanlations. Of course, it's just virtual but the lost money is real, as x0mbiec0rp said. I see nothing wrong in giving warnings and information to the masses, it can only help.

Besides, as much as the internet seems fake to you, it's still created by real people and filled with real thoughts, words and minds. The users you interact with are real humans, not characters created for a manga. You don't enter a RPG world when you connect to the internet. But that's offtopic here.

Thanks for clearing that up. International copyright law is not a strong point for me.

Why am I passionate about this situation?

Because, people spend their personal time doing scanlations and fansubs as a free service to those in the community who wish to read/watch them.

Tazmo profiteers off a select few of those people by misleading them into believing the only way of getting such things are through him and his so called "services".

Also, I warned you once, at one time. The last person who warned you was not me. I know this because I checked the logged and verified that I did, indeed, only warn you once.

As I said before, if you have nothing valid to add, do not post.

You're ability to post on this forum is not a right. We can, and will, take it away if we believe it to be necessary.

For the record, you've been warned FOUR times in the last few months. I gave you a warning that limited your posting rights. You're questioning of such things will not change them in your favor.

We have rules for a reason. If you do not like them, leave.

It's the same thing we told the last few people who questioned the rules. They did not leave, so we made them leave. Don't make it come to that.

Right, I don't get why people are so bothered by it. Let the retards pay for something that's available for free any time of the day by some simple google searching. It's their money after all Don't hate on the guy just because he's making money off idiots. Like it or not, you scan something and put it up for people to download, it's going to spread like wild fire, just like idiocy. laugh

Thats it.

This was meant to be informative, and answer questions to those who needed them answsered.

Not a debate as to the morals and etheics of online interations on profiteering.

Locked.

Admins and Mods still can feel free to add their opinions, of course.
