so apparently issac newton wasn't gay....

ignoring that, what is your opinion on same sex marriage?....it's too late to post a warning for the haters, since this topic is widely controversial due to factors such as religions, morals, ethics, and also consideration for the mentality of the kids adopted by those gay couples....it's okay to voice your opinion, whether you'd approve or disapprove of this kind of union....however, no one should try to convince or convert anyone else to the same belief as you are, especially if that person disapprove of gay marriage

er....i just got bored & have nothing to do while waiting for that slow mirrors bot in lurk...so anyway...it's not like i'm a lesbian or anything, but i would think that same sex marriage should be allow, since some of the world's most ingenious painters (da vinci) and scientists (issac newton) had rather acquainted with other people of their own gender than the opposite gender....i believe as long as they...er..love the other one, it doesn't matter about the age, job, or even gender....perhaps the fact that this world only devides into 2 sexes tired some people out, turning their interest in another direction...also, i've seen people claiming that love can surpasses anything....money, job, reputation, age, status, etc...so why can't it be gender?...open for suggestions...although if you're like a devoted catholic or christian or something, who thinks that it's "immoral" for people with the same gender to be together, since "god" creates adam and eve being opposite sex for a reason....or whatever...i would think that that's a crappy reason for opposing same sex marriage... roll eyes

ellen was lesbian confused confused ??
eek eek

She just lost her spot among my favorite talk show hosts.

No evidence prove Da Vinci or Newton to be queer. The only thing Da Vinci was soiled with was an acquisition made by his rival that he has sodomized a male prostitute. It was later proven that his rival paid the prostitute to deliberately soil Da Vinci's name. Also, Da Vinci use to study dead corpses for anatomy studies. Rumours are not to be twisted with facts. History Channel is a good resource to study.

I wonder if you have prove to back up your statement regarding your theory of Newton's and Da Vinci's sexuality. I want solid evidence, not some rumours based on random assumption and perversion of the mind.

The reason why Christians so oppose the same sex is because they view homosexuality as immoral. It does not provide an end result (a child), thus it is characterized as a taboo and purely based on a sin called lust. Biologically, it is also wrong. Otherwise, evolution would've given men the ability to bear babies and women the abilities to produce seeds.

funny....i thought i heard something about newton taken a liking to guy in the video i watched in science..i remembered that because some people in our class was worked up over him after watching the video, asking the teacher...etc...perhaps i'm wrong....anyway, with da vinci - "His most intimate relationships were with his pupils Salai and Melzi, Melzi writing that Leonardo's feelings for him were both loving and passionate." (they're both male) - from wiki....anyhow, i still like ellen despite her interest...

As already discussed from the Daily Show, Wikipedia is a public encyclopedia where the data can be changed by the registered users. Newton being a repressed homosexual has no solid standing in the science community. Da Vinci's so called Passion is only a mere love for students and fellow friends. I despise modern people trying 'discover the past' and 'soil every freaking famous people' based on their over imaginative mind. According to rumours, Hitler was the one who wrote explicit letters to a man. BTW, Da Vinci's journal includes notes and designed of his ideas. He wrote them mirror wise and some are also encoded to prevent other people from stealing his ideas.

The point I'm trying to get cross is, it's not right to just proclaim this rumour to be true. There is no solid fact to back this up.

Imagine, after you die, your journal says " i love my students very much". Of course you meant that you love them, not in a sexual way. Then people dig up your grave and misinterpereted your journal and proclaim you to be a queer.

On the other had, if you say "I hated my students" on your journal, people are going to say that you hated your students because you were jealous of their abilities to pass your current one.

If you write "My students, my feelings are neutral" Then there is really no point in writing it. eyes

oh?...so to you, solid facts are everything?...first, let's discuss what "facts" are..facts are just what the surface of any event or matter shows you, which means that it's what a person or people shows outside for others to believe it...is it a fact that da vinci was indeed gay?...was it a fact that he had a relationship with his students?...i don't know, and i don't think any other person does, either, except the people who're involved...you said you despised modern people who are trying to cover the truth with rumors? well, how do you think we got these kind of knowledge in the first place? there probably were people who observed these guys to come to the conclusion that they're neither gay nor straight...i would think that those guys could've added up some shit to the real truth, and for all i care, we were only able to obtain the blurry picture of da vinci's relationship through these people, so if they had came to the conclusion da vinci is straight, it could've been covered by a pile of shit, so that the truth is hidden from people....why is it that when others appear to be straight and stuff, rarely anyone questions that, but when they were reported to be gay or lesbian or something, there were lots of doubts of the genuine-ness of that report...is it because people are "normally" straight?...yes, i also think that i'm confusing you right now, but think of it this way, if you believe that wiki is where articles are easy to modify, then hypothetically, if da vinci was gay, and there were others who covered up that with lies of him being straight, i would assume that you wouldn't have started this arguement in the first place...i'm also wondering what you wanted when you say "solid facts", because nothing is solid in this world...in fact (lol), unless you want to hire investigators to trail da vinci, after traveling back to his time, you won't be able to know what the "solid facts" about his relationship with his students either...there's no such thing as "forever, ever, or never" in this world....there's always gonna be changes, so i think there's no such thing as "solid facts" either...you probably noticed that i had contradict myself alot, too....it's in my nature, can't be help >_>....oh yea, you had stated that ellen had lost her place in you favorite talk show's hosts list....why? because you merely just found out she's a lesbian? (perhaps from me?...) that just shows how open-minded you are about same sex marriage, which by the way, i don't think you had display your opinion, apart from criticizing my way of "'discover the past' and 'soil every freaking famous people' based on their over imaginative mind", just because i look up to wiki as my resource...i also have a question, where do you think i can get the "solid facts" about da vinci, then? where did YOU got the idea that da vinci and newton wasn't gay?...unless we got back to their time to observe, i don't think you have much facts about their sexuality as much i do...

Wait, that implies you used to like her... none none none

Oh, and on topic, I'll vote to allow it because that seems to be the inevitable way the world is going, and resisting it is just going to result in a lot of people working around the law. Kinda like DRM protection on digital music.

Well, considering some of my best friends are gay/lesbian/bi, I def support it. It's should be considered morally correct because same sex couples usually adopt the unwanted little shildren instead of filling the world up with even more energy-suckers ;P Also, any homophobes in this forum are now on my hate list. I will be lurking... (not that anyone would care if I hated them)

same here, if ppl want to get married so be it
and for all the homophobes out there, homo couples with adopted children have been shown statiscally that they dont "raise them gay" any more than hetero couples do

another tidbit for all the homophobes/haters out there:
they did an experiment in britain the 90's where they showed homophobes and ppl who took an open stance to homosexuals gay pornography to gauge their reaction, and actually a good chunk of the vocal homophobes were
Spoiler (highlight to view)
found to be somewhat aroused by it

its like the analogy of the black kkk member(a racist cult in the us against blacks for anybody who didnt know)

Now, now, just because this topic has been turned into a "pat yourself on the back if you like gay people"-fest doesn't mean you should name-call.

If it was said as an insult then ofcourse I would be insulted but the case here is that what we know of history and historic figures ARE usually full of holes and conjectures gleaned from whatever tidbit of information we have about their lives. The history we know, especially about the times before any organised records are kept, are basically our interpretations based on sometimes just scrapes of information left over.

And also I'd like to think that we as a society as a whole has evolved to the point that we don't disregard people's achievements simply because their sexual preference is differant from the norm. IF Da Vinci and Newton were homosexual does that change the fact that both of them were great minds that made huge contributions in their time? If you liked a talk show host but then disliked her simply because she was a lesbian what changed? Did the quality of her show suddenly drop since you found out she was "not normal"?

I know what I said was pretty uncalled for, but really, that was a messed up thing for them to say.

No name calling under any circumstances...

Personally, I think that marriages are a religious thing, and they should follow their own religious traditions. If two people want to get married under some religion (and they're lesbian/gay), and they can find a priest to do it, then great. If not, then they should still be able to be married in court (or whatever the legal equivalent is). That's their business.

This is a free country. If two men or two women (however nasty as that seems) want to get "married", then let them.
