It seems that FUNimation is going to go and fix the mess that 4Kids made. So later on we can go out and actually buy uncut One Piece dvds (YAY). Im not that big of a FUNiamtion fan, but im really happy to hear that they will be licenising One Piece and will be releseing it uncut like it should be .
So what do you guys think about this good news?

Haha, I'll have a very happy friend! It looks like they're still going to edit it a lot for TV though according to the interview... removing violence and cigarettes. Geez I hate the FCC. What the hell is wrong with cigarettes? Seriously? -_- I don't smoke, and I was exposed to all sorts of smoking when i was younger (hell, my parents smoked until I was like 8).
Ya know, alot of people bitch about FUNimation, but they know how to do longer series.
They did ALL of Dragon Ball, and thats over five hundred episodes, total.
I have faith that they will do One Piece justice.
Lets hope they recast the voices, though. I am sick of "Surfer Boy" Sanji, to the point that I wanna cause physical harm to others and myself. >_>;

I'm going to miss Zolo/Zoro's voice, he did such a good job it is a shame he got mixed-into 4Kids' band of losers.
My only hope with that is that his name goes back to being Zoro.
Theres enough differences between Zoro and the character Zorro, aside from they're names sounding alike, to not get sued over it. Well, I think so, anyways.

Sorry Kaioh. I'm pretty sure it is going to be zolo still. It's because of copyright laws (duh zorro). And cartoon network and the fcc will make them sensor the cigarettes and violence but the dvds will be uncut but still it will be zolo.

You do not understand copyright laws nor FCC laws, do you?
Copyright laws are tricky, however, Zoro's name can still be used. It was changed to Zolo originally to forgo any confusion with the character Zorro. 4Kids didn't want to have anything to do with even a potential lawsuit. Thus the change.
However, aside from the fact that they are both Swordsmen, there are no other similarties between Zorro and Roronoa Zoro. Their names are technically even pronounced differently. Zorro has a long R sound, while Zoro is like say Zero, except with an O, not an E. These differences, plus they major differences in the characters personas allow enough of a difference that Zorro Productions, Inc, the legal united states (and world wide) copyright holders of the entire Zorro franchise, could still sue over the use of the name Zoro, however, they would lose in the end. The only thing they'd do by suing is getting the production and release of the DVDs delayed until the end of the trial. That would, again, be pointless as it would just waste money and time without any gain at all.
Secondly, the FCC has no control on whether anyone Smokes in television. In fact, you can turn on the television and find any number of characters in television smoking. Also, Cartoon Network will most likely not censor the show, even if Sanji smokes. I do believe that they may tone down his usage of smoking, editing it for broadcast, but that is all. The violence and such will not be edited. My reasoning for this comes from the many violent things Cartoon Network has shown in the past, aswell as the present. The amount of Blood seen in the first few episodes of Blood+ is astounding, in itself. However, on Bleach everytime a Hollow is killed, the method most used is decapitation.
These things, together with the fact that they may just drop One Piece, are what make me believe that FUNimation will not change his name to Zolo. Usually, with FUNimation anime, the manga their property is based on is never associated with the anime, aside from the name, and usage rights of the name. Thus, even if FUNimation restarted the process, and changed his name back to Zoro, the manga may still keep Zolo, just because thats what they changed it to, and have used it extensively.
I'm sorry for this long drawn out explaination. But those are what I believe to be the facts of the situation.

Oh god, either way, the DVD's will be out and I'm gonna assume there'll be dual audio and subtitles. Watch it in jap with subtitles; no issues about mispronunciations, censorship, or bad voices. Capiche?

I know this thread is SUPER OLD! But just got to say that 4kids Opening for One Piece was waaay better than Funimation's version. Heck, I prefer 4kid's Opening when compared to the original Japanese Opening.
Judge for yourself -
4Kids (Dubbed): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQOUgNMobAk
FUNimation (Dubbed): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0ov2ZIgC88
Original Japanese: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7vjlFWalYk
---------- In my opinion, 4Kids win hands down.

If being a complete and utter idiot means sticking with what I believe to be more appealing, then I'll gladly choose to being an idiot. So, you think this is scary or....you think this is Madness? This is INTERNET!!!! *kicks you in a hole* ...deal with it.the question is

If you want to discuss OP music, or even if you just want to express your taste in music, no matter how bad or good rap it is, deal with it in the music section.

Well i liked 4kids's Opening, (Mostly because of nostalgia and it's actually pretty funny lol), was actually pretty good. But i also like the fact that FUNimation dubbed the original song.
