This manga is not getting enough love and I think that is sad.

Kare Kano number one! (Best school life manga ever written but I think it's more shoujo but it's josei too) Friendship and love. The traumatic scenes were intense)
Mars (It's raw with emotion)
Shuukatsu!! - Kimi ni Naitei (it's a nice slow mo manga, main character cries a lot but it's not for stupid things at least)
P.A. (private actress) (I like the manga "real life" acting situations the PA is involved in)
All the Deep Loves (These mangas were so emotional and so truth telling. The cruelties of the world)

(this thread is quite old, I don't know how exactly this forum works but I hope me bumping this thread doesn't affect or harm anyone or anything xDD)
edit: now that I look again, it actually isn't that old lol (was only looking at 2009 xD)

Hardcore shoujo-fan. I don't read anything under a rating of 8 though ;D
I also like k-pop.
Ailee and Dara <3
You should read The Friendly Winter
(It's underrated!)

I'm really digging Hotaru no Hikari at the moment, it's got a good pace and is very slice-of-life. Although I can't help but love anything by OHMI Tomu I just love the art

Nana blows away all josei....king of joseis, or maybe queen of joseis would work better...
So agree, one of the best i've read.

A Delicious Relationship, for the strong characters and the mature storyline. I love how the main character grows, and even if she doesn't always make good choices, she's never stupid.
YOSHIHARA Yuki's stories, all of them. I guess my favorites are Chiyou yo Hana yo and Haa Haa, the first one I read.
Loveless - I forgot Loveless is josei, it definitely goes on any list of my favorite manga. Saiyuki Gaiden as well.
Midnight Secretary and Gokusen are also some of my favorites, though I would have liked more romance in the latter.
I haven't read Kimi wa Pet yet (shame on me) but I love OGAWA Yayoi's Baby Pop and Candy Life.
So agree, one of the best i've read.
Nana is technically shoujo, although YAZAWA Ai's Paradise Kiss is josei.

7 Seeds is a hidden gem and the best josei I've ever read. It's such a waste that people tend to avoid it.

Easily NANA, though it's technically classified as shoujo. Still, most of its content and its approach screams josei.
But behind that, Futago by Iketani Rikako.
Clover if it weren't stuck in scanlating purgatory
A lot of stuff by Ikuemi Ryou although she writes shoujo. Her works tend to be more mature or serious in tone, so I often get Josei vibes from it. Kiyoku Yawaku is one of her mangas that I'm desperate to read, but scanlation is slow going for it.
I just checked her magazine publication and she's serialized in Cookie (NANA's current magazine), which isn't surprising. If I could read Japanese and lived in Japan, it'd probably be one of my favorite magazine publications.

Second Sakamichi no Apollon! Finished this manga in one day There's believable characters, unique art style, the 1980s, and jazz! It helps that the ending is incredible as well. Absolutely one of my favorites.
