So I downloaded o few first ep. from a few random titles, if they are promising I get the rest - the first one was "Special A" (24 ep.), conclusion: average, the ending was boring and it sucked balls. The second series that got my atention was "Rosario+Vampire" (13 ep.) - it resembled "Mx0" (manga) so I thought "a good begining" - oh God how wrong was I.
What I think about it? It FAILS HARD, why? On that later.
So after this "false start" I still was wondering how could they fuck it up so much - to answer my question I downloaded the manga. After briefly reading it through I can sey one thing - the manga is better... STOP! I don't mean the CUT CONTENT OR THE USUAL SUSPECT that almost always shows the superiorty of manga - what I have on mind are how the character are portraited and the ecchiness level (I'm not saying it's bad but there are thing called "overkill"
, those are my thoughts:- The main "hero" (HA! The irony!) - in the A. he is an EMO-PUSSY that is also the HERO standing to defend the girl - THE PARADOX, at least that's the feeling that I got when watching the first ep. Of course not he level of Evas Shinji. In the M. he is less from both what makes him more acceptable as a person - I CAN'T PUT A FINGER ON IT BUT THIS IS PROBABLY CAUSED BUT THE FACT THAT THE A. IS TAKING ITSELF SERIOUSLY, WHILE THE MANGA DOESN'T (it's the usual way manga is). Such "works" make me want to play "Bonnie Tyler - I Need A Hero" with the volume and bass on max.
- As I sad earlier: ECCHIness - while the M. just doesn't go that way the A.s level of ecchi/fan-service is so high that it went through the ceiling and killed the guy living above me (not that I liked him or something), I would call it tasteless or an overkill. The fact is that the 1st ep. has many panty-shots, still, it was acceptable but the 2nd ep. had so many tits zooms-ins at one point that I seriously was - THE FUCK WERE THEY THINKING?!? Normaly I'm for fan-service (Highschool of the Dead, FUCK YEAH!) but this somehow maneged to turn me off.
- There is also this one detail that bothers me, mainy in the M. She/Moka bites him like a proper Vamp should do (blood flows), but in the A. she more or less kisses him only living a kiss-mark - there is also this annoying "Chiii" sound when she does it. The question is WHY, is this made family-freindly so the kiddies can watch and the Censorship fucks off? No wait, this theory fails when I think about the point above.
- What was the last point I wanted to bring up... hmm... GO IT! The "Love from first sight, throught the stomach to the heart". In the M. it looks that she likes him because of the blood that was hers "first warm one", there are also sslight prompts in the direction of "like/love". In the A. it's the opposite, yes the blood element is presented at the begining but then somehow marginalized with "why do I like him"?. I think that botch are somehow not right - Yes I'm only an Eurofag who can't draw shit but still I think the plot would be better if they would go with the "Hello breakfast" motive, after that they have the whole series to get to the other "part".... no not SEX, it's LOVE.
MY question is - WHY do they butcher the characters so much, do they like EMOs or something.
This is probably why I like "Mx0", because the main hero is really a protagonist (it means he fights), he fight for what he believes, for what he desires. He doesn't have to be superman. What really pisses me of is the "I'm so weak, what can I do" (Ugh! "Watashi no Messiah-sama" just went through my mind, it hurt).
If someone can Recommend me some proper manga with some normal guy who stays firm by his bellieves I would be gratefull. Cheers.
