I tried adding a group to the database, Laces is the name, but it was denied, so when I tried to add releases for a few of the series they did, those got denied too.

Laces doesn't have a website, irc, or a forum, because from what I can tell it just releases via an announcement on 4chan and then posts it to rapidshare, and lets /rs/ index them, this is making the release dates almost impossible to track down as well. I have an E-mail for them though, it's included in every release.

Was it because they don't have a website or anything? They are scanlating manga, seem to still be an active team. What am I doing wrong? I'm assuming it's because the group has no contacts and the releases have no dates, and a group like that needs releases to be approved, but the releases like that need a group to be approved. So can a mod or admin add the group so I can add the releases?

From what I can tell...a scanslator doesn't necessarily need to have any contact info since there are a few groups without them...

Maybe it's because it's from 4ch? I remember something about them not wanting their releases posted here. Though that was in the case of Mirai Nikki

Well, if you look here:
http://www.mangaupdates.com/news.html?id=333
Lambchopsil says:

Likewise, if you add a new group that has no website or IRC link, and is without any approved releases, unless you state a reason for this (through a pm to me), the group will also be REJECTED (if any questions about this, pm me).

For unlicensed series, releases made by unknown groups (as under the previously defined definition) without download links will be REJECTED.

Also, Laces isn't 4chan, they just release there. It isn't the same group of anons that do Mirai Nikki.

I tried to PM him like it says, but my browser just went to a blank screen. I tried replying to the e-mail that states the denial of my submission for a group, it says to reply if you think it was a mistake, but my e-mails won't go out at all, something on my end. I couldn't think of another way to contact a mod or admin, you know? So I made this topic. Sorry to be a hassle.

Releases for Laces of UNlicensed series will be approved as long as they have download links that LEAD somewhere useful (linking to 4chan does not count as useful).

Releases for Laces of all LICENSED series will be denied as long as they do not have a group page here. And to get a group page here, they need to have some kind of contact info as defined by our FAQ and group info pages, or else I just hit the "reject" button. Quite easy actually

End of story

Alright, so if I add some rapidshare links to the releases, and they are unlicensed, I can then add the group?

Sorry, I'm not real bright so sometimes I need things explained to me.

I will not approve the group unless it has group information

I will not approve releases for unlicensed series unless there is a download link

I will not approve releases for licensed series unless the group is approved

Alrighty, think I've got it now. I added the DL links and the releases were approved, thank you. I was wondering though about the wording of this:
Quote

That 'and' there, does that mean that it only needs one of those things? Like if it has contacts but no releases it will be approved. If it has releases but no contacts it will be approved? Because I've seen groups in the database with no contact info at all but they have releases, were these approved at one point because they once had contact information, or something else.

Also, to sneak another question in, if a group releases something under the wrong name, like for example the group DokiDoki released a set of Gundam Seed doujinshi, WND, WSD, WND Summer, etc. But the title they listed as WND is actually not WND, it's a different doujinshi called WND 123, though the group also did a doujin called WND which I now do not know how to add to the database because the title is already taken. How does one handle a situation like that?

Again, I apologise for my obtuseness and my bad English. I just want to help complete the database, a task that will never be finished, I know, but I want to do something.

No, that applies to someone who adds a group but there is no contact information at all, and there is no release in the database corresponding to that group either.

If a group has no contact info, it was either added before our policies were made, or they're a defunct group anyways. There are several exceptions, but don't expect us to make exceptions for you. That's very rare indeed. If you feel like challenging something, take it up to me via pm, but don't expect me to change my mind right away. If I did something, I usually did it for a reason
