I'm looking for a (romance) series where there is lots of couples and the focus is pretty much equally divided between said couples -- I prefer for it to be as long and angsty as Princess if possible XD

I'm fine with most genre apart from hentai, harem and ecchi.

Spicy Pink <-- 2 couples, equally divided.
Karakuri Odetto <-- not really real couples, but you'll see.
Emma 100% the one that you're looking for!
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Has everything!
Different couples:different stories and yet still stick to the main point.

Emma X William
Richard X Aurelia (William's parents' back story)
Kelly X Al (makes me sad) T___T
Wilhelm X Dorothea (My favourite)

and srsly, if you read it, dont just drop the manga just by reading vol.1... I fell completely in love with the manga at 3-4 volume. mad cool

Special A - it starts about the main couple and eventually branches (to 6 or 7 couples) after a few volumes.
Fruits Basket - also takes a few volumes, but it'll get there.

Honey and Clover - not sure about this one. I don't really follow it. Seems like it might.

If you've ever thought or said "Nice Guys finish last" and really meant it, then you should probably read this LJ post by DivaLion. It's incredibly insightful whether you're male or female.

Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou - I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet. It's not exactly equally divided, but the other couples get some space as well.
