I have hated doramas coz I cant stand the overacting or lack of talent and the oddness of the actors..
still, I have managed to see quite a few like Hana Yori Dango, Kimi wa petto (wasnt too bad), Gokusen (the worst that I have seen which laid me off most doramas), devil beside you (ok ok types), frog prince/princess... so its not like I dont know what doramas usually have..

....And I usually steered clear of them until I stumbled across Suppli. This is actually the best dorama I have seen and I have been wondering, are there any other such Josei style (least overacting) doramas in the same league?? Please suggest and un-prejudice me from my abhorrence of doramas..

No school life doramas or high school doramas, preferably workplace doramas with an adult woman so a MUST BE Josei theme

...u kno, older mature beautiful women like Kimi wa petto and Suppli and if its in the older woman, younger man combination, I would love it..and romance please!!

So far, I saw and liked (Suggested good ones + what I found) Notice all these are sorter older woman-younger man category bigrazz
Suppli
Anego
Long Vacation
My Name is Kim Sam Soon
Majou No Jouken

Brand
Slow Dance
Golden Bowl
Tropical Nights in December

I haven't seen Suppli so I can't directly compare the two, but I thought Anego was pretty good.

Maybe you can try the live-action adaptation of Nana.
I haven`t watched it but i`ve heard it`s pretty good.

My favourite one so far would be densha otoko, although it was kind of childish and unrealistic i still liked it a lot. Although it`s got nothing to do with what you described you can still check it out if you like biggrin

Is dorama's strictly Japanese? If not, you should really check out some Korean dramas, especially Sik Gaek (Gourmet in English). It's based off of an award winning manwha, and acting is pretty top notch as far as kdramas go.

Very brief synopsis from Soompi:
Sung-Chan is a talented cook. He peddles food from his truck all over the country to discover the best and precious traditional Korean cuisines. Jin Soo, a contracted journalist in a news agency, dreams to become the best columnist on food and nutrition. Jin Soo has bright and vivid personality. She came across Sung Chan in various occasions and then falls in love with him.

I highly recommend that you check this out.

Oho, I have watched Nana episodes too, but they rnt to my liking also...saw a random episode of Densha Otoko, it was a bit superfluous for me..I know I am extremely picky biggrin

To Tofuqueen,Thanks for Anego and shade449, Thanks for Sik Gaek though I find the later hard to find...Anego is my ongoing check now.. biggrin

Don't know if I'm allowed to mention other sites, but since it's not really manga related, what the heck. If I'm breaking a rule mods, feel free to edit. Go to:

http://www.soompi.com/forums/

for any kdrama related stuff, the site is great. If I remember correctly, it's kind of a pain to make an account though. I think they make you download something that randomly generates a key that lets you make an account or something? Anyway, it really is worth it if you plan on downloading kdramas. If you don't mind streams, then crunchyroll might have it.

Thanks shade449 once again for the links..I dont mind k-drama as long as its sort of josei and less overacting, in fact the reason I insist on an older woman is usually because they are better actresses though Suppli wasnt much but the main lead females in Kimi Wa Petto and Anego are superb actresses which is what made the series watchable though Tofuqueen, have to say I LOVED ANEGO, Brilliant recommendation! And if anything on those lines comes to mind, please go on.. biggrin

br4nd0nh347, all the doramas' summaries arent realistic, they are like peppy shoujo which isnt what I am looking for..

checking out Brand now..

Well it's Korean, but you might like Bad Couple. It's another with an older woman lead, a very original story in some ways, but a good bit of cliche as well I guess. Over all I thought it was pretty good.

My Girl isn't really "peppy shoujo" after the first 1/4 or 1/3 or something. It starts off silly & fluffy but does get serious/dramatic; not a favorite of mine though it has some great moments.

I did also like Long Vacation. It's an older J-dorama and a lot of people think it moves too slow, but I thought it was pretty good. Another with an older woman & younger man.

Majo no Jouken is considered a "classic" of older woman/younger man forbidden love, but I thought it was pretty awful so I can't really recommend it. Takki is nice to look at, though~

Hmmmm Slow Dance was pretty good too, and also Kekkon Dekinai Otoko. I'm straying from your original request now, I think, and just listing doramas I've seen that have that more mature, less fluffy-shoujo feeling. ( >_< )

I've seen Hotaru no Hikari and Hataraki Man recommended, but haven't seen either.

That's the only somewhat similar drama I can think of right now - my tastes often run more towards the quirky/silly end of the spectrum. bigrazz

Yea Hotaru no Hikari and Hataraki Man were really good doramas in my opinion.
Maybe Zettai kareshi, since she's a working woman in the drama unlike the manga.

Some K-Drama:
New Heart
Life Special Investigation Team
When It's At Night
Bad Love
Full House
My Lovely Sam-Soon
C-Drama:
La Femme Desperado (i watched this a while back, but i remember it was in the office smile )

If you want info on the series, you can check out http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Main_Page

I watch mostly kdramas though I'm not a fan of the office romance types. Maybe you should check out 9 End 2 Outs, a kdrama about two best friends (a guy and a girl) in their late 20's/early 30's and it's really good. It's a little more mature and real than most doramas.

Other kdramas that are just as good or even better:
Mawang (The Devil)
Capital Scandal
The Legend of the Four Gods
Coffee Prince
Flowers for my Life
Hong Gil Dong
Painter of the Wind

twdramas:
Mars

If you want to know where to find them just pm me.

Thanks for all the recommendations, usually I do prefer the Japanese ones since somehow I find the actors/actress of the good ones ..smarter and the fashion acceptable like in Bad Couple, the woman's curls turned me off..dyed curls looked totally flashy and irrelevant somehow...

I loved Majo No Jouken, thanks TofuQueen and also Long Vacation. Slow Dance was good too.

Glad you're enjoying the doramas~

Yeah, the gal's dyed hair in Bad Couple was kind of odd; in general I find Korean fashion to be just...weird...more often than not.

So...how do you feel about non-happy endings? (I hate them...)

A Million Stars Falling From the Sky is pretty popular & I thought it was good up to a point, but be warned that things Do Not End Well. (I hope that's not too much of a spoiler....)

Oooooh, I hate them too and also "leave it to your imagination" or ambiguous endings, I mean why bother making the whole journey of love struggle if you're going to make them part- its kinda pointless and "back to square one". I also find "I will live on those beautiful memories" entire BS.

If I were a professional writer, I definitely would ALWAYS give happy endings.. biggrin

Long Vacation might be older but it is actually a pretty "sensible" drama, one of the best set of actors so far- everyone in this drama (for the first time) are professionals, I mean each work like they have come through from Drama school or studied acting, even the screenplay writer or author has concocted a slice-of-life short novel sorta drama - its good...
