My very first shoujo ever was Inuyasha.
However, that was the anime.

InuYasha is a shounen not a shoujo. Shounens are usually targeted toward guys (so it usually involves action like Rave Master, DragonBall Z, Naruto etc...). Shoujo on the other hand targets toward girls (so it usually involves romance, Special A, Skip Beat!, Fruits Basket etc...)

Whoops, my bad. I always thought of it as shoujo, with all of the romance between characters. Stupid mistake on my part laugh

Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu

Easily the greatest manga I have ever read (well, still reading). It's also the first and only Shoujo manga I've read thus far. All I can say is that I'm hooked.

That's actually really good to know! So far, I've been quite unlucky with Shoujo mangas... but I added a few from the "Best Shoujo" topic so hopefully I won't be let down! I think it might be because Boku Kimi has my expectations really high...

It also looks like a good portion of the suggested mangas in the "Best Shoujo" thread are from TokyoPop... and I guess a copyright issue makes it so I can't read them off of OneManga. It wouldn't be a problem if I didn't use an app on my phone to read manga (which unfortunately only uses OneManga). The one I really wanted to read was Kare Kano. So far I've only seen good things about it!

You should use a computer, silly! bigrazz
MangaToshokan has quite a bit of online manga, you could check there. : D
And yeah Kare Kano is really good, you should try Kodocha too. :]
Skip Beat and Cat Street are good too. (:

I probably should... but reading manga in bed is so much easier! Feels nice to lie down when I'm reading something, and I also feel that changing the page is a lot smoother. But I guess it all comes down to preferences lol.

After finishing Ichigo 100%, I tried out Vampire Knight (only 2-3 chapters in), and it feels like it's aimed at the female crowd a little too much (I know it's called Shoujo for a reason, but right now I don't feel like it's drawing me in at all). But then again, I shouldn't be judging a manga based off the first few chapters (learned my lesson after reading Suzuka).

Skip Beat, Cat Street, and Kodocha look really interesting! I'll definitely check them out this weekend!

I think it was Sold Out, I wanted to just get a feel for it. I thought it was good then, but didn't really care so much. Now I realize that it was ... not that good. After, like, a three-four month pause, I restarted with Card Captor Sakura, which kind of domino-effected my life into now.

Nana.

I got into because one day I sat down and said, "I'm going to watch something isn't shounen and doesn't end in tragedy for once," and somehow I came across Nana. I saw it and fell in love with it and it's still my favorite shoujo title in anime and manga.

Wow, Skip Beat and Cat Street were really great! Skip Beat seems like its a little slow on the romance, but the intensity the mood gives out makes me forget about it most of the time. Cat Street presented some really cool moral values that the world needs to learn to cherish again and also one of the better plots I've seen in a manga.

Thanks again for the recommendations! I just need to read Kochoa now! smile

There were a few that I've come across but didn't read, read. Like Sailor Moon and Peach Girl, so I guess the first one I did seriously read was probably Marmalade Boy... maybe, or something CLAMP.

Oi, sorry if I seem redundant, but I just finished reading Kodocha!

All I have to say is that it was a truly amazing read. I remember reading a few volumes several years ago when I was a kid. I wasn't able to finish the series because not all of the volumes were available, but I do remember that I wanted more! Well, who wouldn't? bigrazz

Kodocha was the closest thing that has had such an effect on me since Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu. I am really grateful for the recommendations! Thank you so much!

I don't want to be bothersome (since this is probably the wrong section for all of this), but do you have some more recommendations? biggrin So far every single series that you've recommended has been a hit for me!
