what exactly is bara?

Try some works from Sadahiro Mika (Aneste has recommended one of her work, Innai Kansen) or Star ni Ai, Star na Koi, and Rising Storm.

Every one of MATSU Takeshi's characters have muscles. YAMANE Ayano also has some muscular characters.
You should seriously check out SAKURAI Shushushu, GUREN Naomi and YAMATO Nase's manga. They're hilarious and sexy.
Some of NAONO Bohra and TAKAGI Ryou's manga is funny, too.

Please read Ikenai Otoko. It is one of the HOTTEST and hardcore yaoi mangas I've ever read. 
The men in there are also quite muscular too, but not in a disturbing way.
