A manga where the story starts out with a weak(mentally or physically) kid as a main character. And as the story goes that kid gets more mature and grows up.
So it's a given that there'd be a timeskip somewhere in the manga.

similar manga:
Dragon ball
666 satan
Naruto
Tengen Toppa Guren Lagann(its an anime but its got the plot that i want)
Cat street

manga doesnt need to be action or shounen oriented. it just so happens that the similar mangas i stated above revolve around that kind of genre. It would also be nice if there were romance

There's 2 romance I can think of that definitely fits your criteria: Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu and Princess (this spans through 3 generations so you see the growth of the children from generations 2 and 3). Both are tragedies though.

Sand Chronicles may fit what you are looking for. It follows the protagonist through her life and there is a ton of romance in it.

Hope that helps! ^_^

Are you looking for a manga where the kid actually grows up? As in, there's character development that occurs during the time skip?

If so, I wouldn't use Naruto on your list of examples... Because that time skip was pretty much meaningless in that regard.

Major is one though.
Monster if somehow you haven't read that one.

and... I'm trying to think of one with romance... Zetman maybe?

Hajime no Ippo fits your description. There is no time skip, but its so long that it doesn't need one. (835 chapters and counting) Its fantastic, if you haven't read it, give it a try.
