We're thinking of making a system to help people keep track of that on this site. It's still in the design stage, so it'll be a while, but I think users will find it very useful once we roll it out.

Interesting. I actually use Excel to keep track of my manga/anime list. I create a spreadsheet with the name of the manga, the last chapter that i've downloaded, date that i downloaded the chapter, the scanlation team, the manga status (dropped/finished/in progress) It looks like a long process, but it's very useful.

IMO, a good way to keep track of the manga would be to have a tracking link on the release page (i.e. next to a DL link, having a tracking link, which would record the manga, chapter, date, and team) then members could login into their accounts and have some sort of "My Manga" page where they track everything.

To avoid wasting too much space, an entry could be updated when a new chapter is release (i.e. let's say you track this entry "Over Time* c.6-8 KO-Scans & Jump-Scans" then th next week, a new chapter from the same team is released, so you track the new entry, which will replaced the old one.) (don't know if it makes sense, lol)

The only issue that i see is what if a new "over time" chapter is released from another team. Should the old entry be updated or should a new entry be made?

humm, reading the question again, dunno if "mangabakaupdates" want to just keep track of only the manga names or what i wrote about above.

Anyway this is all talk! Dunno how feasible it is. biggrin

Cheers!

Well, like Manick said, it's in the development stage. We can take as many suggestions as possible and try to complete them.

I keep three different wordpad files.

"Manga To Download" for stuff I want to get.

"Finished Manga" for series I have finished.

and "Current Chapter Status" where I mark down all my current status on ongoing stuff, or stuff I havn't finished yet.

Most of the times, you could open current status and see something like "Mahou Sensei Negima - Vol. 16 Chap. 147" This makes it so that I know for Negima I last read Chapter 147 from Volume 16.

So, next time I start reading Negima, I will start with 148, whenever AQS releases that. I found this to be much easier than Spreadsheets, myself, as all of it is in one file, and its much easier to navigate, because I can easily remember how far to scroll in the file to get to where each manga's title is.

The Finished and Download ones just contain titles, as they don't have to be so specific.

Thats how I keep track. As for knowing when to Download, I don't have to worry. When new stuff for manga's on my hard drive comes out, I go and get it, whether I will be reading it soon, or not.

Haha...Negima...

For me, I just "remember" the story and stuff. If someone names a manga to me, I just think about it and I can tell if I have/read it yet. Although, I do use an excel chart for everything I have (anime/manga), but it's just for archive purposes and doesn't record if I actually read/watched it yet.

That system is going to be very useful, I think.

I like keeping online lists of things such as my collection, makes it easier to remember it.

Same for me.

No only do I have over 90 series on-going that I read, my memory also hosts stuff such as where I stopped on video games, lyrics to my favorite songs (Theres thousands of these), plus a huge amassment of knowledge I have gotten through self study, and viewing educational programming on the television.

I simply don't have a good enough memory to remember where I pause on manga, all the time. Sometimes I can instinctively remember, but I still keep the wordpad files as a backup.
