This list was primary compiled to encourage people to apply the demographic tags (shoujo/shonen/sheinen/josei) according to the magazine type, instead of applying it for random reasons. I’m sure it will have other uses as well. Only magazines listed on MU are to be included. It’s up to you to make sure that the manga was indeed published under the specified magazine and that the magazine is listed under correct publisher. Questions? Objections? Suggestions? As much as I would like to say it's 100%, there out to be some objections, we can sort them out if/when they come up. Some magazines can easily be put in multiply categories as the general public not always agrees with what publisher claims.

As for my sources, they are: The magazines (to check for furigana) Publishers themselves, Japanese distributors (always more than one), Japanese databases similar to MU, Japanese wiki (on rare occasion), i did not used any English database with the exception of comipedia and even that only for cross reference, because I do not know what their sources are and some english sites are just too liberal. Bottom line is I have not used only one source for each magazine (unless it was publishers themselves and even so I checked with distributors to see if and how they categorize some manga) so I was very meticulous.

Okay, I'm happy for your input, and Comipedia has some errors with some magazines, but it's a good way to confirm a demographic.

By the way, what's the deal with manga series that run/have run in two magazines?

I wouldn't say it's all that common, but it does happen that a series moves from one magazine to another. Usually, it's between two mags from the same publisher.
When the mangaka gets fed up (I assume) and switches publisher, though, there's usually a "subtle" change in the name. Compare Tokyo Toybox and Dai Tokyo Toybox, for instance. (Since it's the only example I can think of right now...)

I also seem to recall that some of the ones that run in the Manga Time mags have moved around to more than two. So it's not like it's limited to <= 2, even.

@Dr. Love: there are many reasons for it:

1. author just decides to switch publisher (basically what pnyxtr said) and it's really up to publisher to print the story in A or B magazine.

2. the original magazine the manga was running in has defunct, ceases publication. There are cases where a manga was runing for multi-audience magazine and when it ceased, the titles were moved to a singular-audience magazines of the appropriate demographics.

3. as manga progress it either changes orientation or it's been running for so long that the morals policy has been changed (so, for example, what once was considered to appropriate for boys, becomes appropriate for men)

4. publishers sometimes miscalculate their estimates, experiment or try to raise sales by putting a title of different demographic, if such trick fails (readers complain, no one reading the story) the title is moved to a more appropriate magazine.

5. a new magazine needs promotion so some of the chapters of a popular title that is already running in established magazine are published in the new one. (again, pnyxtr example of Time Magazines fits perfectly here)
