Another detailed manga review thanks to Kaioh!

Today we have a manga review thanks to Kaioh!
Check it out: Hajime no Ippo
Also, just a note that I've altered the registration page. It was a bit outdated and encouraged people not to sign up. I've now changed it to encourage people to sign up! Sorry for the confusion!
We have a new review, submitted by an anonymous user. If the writer reads this, and would like to claim credit for your work, please just reg an account and message me! I'm not sure if this was an accident or not. This is another reason why we're going to move the review system to the users system shortly (so that users can claim and update their reviews).
For your reading pleasure: Azumanga Daioh!
Okay, well this is going to be a long one... Where to start. I had found that lots of users were confused by the comments system. They figured that they could post more than one comment, would post that comment, and find out the hard way that you could only post one. To help solve this problem, I decided to write a forum system that would cater to the individual needs of this site.
As such, every series in the database now has a forum. That's right. If you would like to visit the forum of a particular series, you can visit its info page, scroll down to "forum posts" and visit the forum. You can also access the forums by clicking on "Forums" under "Whats New!" on the menu to the right.
As this is a custom system, there are no doubt tons of bugs everywhere. If you find one, please either post it in the suggestions forum or private message me by clicking on "My Inbox" under the User CP in the menu to the right.
Update Forgot about a few other things. Every user now has a public profile that you can access from the members section of this site. You can also add a signature, avatar, or change your timezone (which should affect most of the site) from your profile in the User CP section.
Update 2 Here's the results of that poll I ran:
Question: Did you go to Otakon 2006?
Choices:
Yes - votes: 97 (5.8%)
No - votes: 1574 (94.2%)
There were 1671 total votes.
The poll ended: August 23rd 2006
So, I saw at least 100 of you guys there maybe!! Awesome. Well, I put a new poll up because I think it's a bit more relavent to current site happenings. Check it out!
Thank you for BU-Staff
Alright guys, here's the deal. I've changed the series comments so that they're user account based now. This means that you will have to register an account and login to comment. This also means that you will be able to update your comment in the future, since you can only add one. This is a small step to some larger changes that will be coming soon. I will also be changing the news and review comments to reflect this as well.
Question: How much fanart do you like packaged with manga releases?
Choices:
None, keep it separate - votes: 2408 (39.9%)
1 or 2 of the best - votes: 2188 (36.3%)
The more the merrier - votes: 1439 (23.8%)
There were 6035 total votes.
The poll ended: August 15th 2006
Okay! So, seems like most people don't want it, but a lot of people are willing to have 1-2.
The next poll is related to that news posts from a few days ago. I guess I have to make it a poll or I'll never get a response! :-p
Update: Since there have been people complaining about this, I'm going to clarify what I meant. I meant to say that the first option got the most votes. However, as some of you have pointed out, the majority of people if you add it up would like a little fanart.
Hey all, I added a "Serialized In" to the series section. For those of you who know the publication that a manga was serialized in, you can feel free to update the corresponding section. Thanks!
lambchopsil writes: *There will be a new anime series called "Negima!?" to be aired in October. The director will be Akiyuki Shinbo and it will be produced by Shaft and GANSIS. This will be an original work, not based on the manga series by Ken Akamatsu, but it will contain the same characters and settings.
In addition to this, there will be a manga adaptation of "Negima!?" that will start in November in the monthly magazine "Comic Bonbon." The mangaka for this new manga will be Fujima Takuya of Essentia. Unfortunately for most fans, "Comic Bonbon" is meant for all ages, so in other words, this will not contain the fanservice seen in the Ken Akamatsu's "Mahou Sensei Negima!"
As a note, Ken Akamatsu's manga series "Mahou Sensei Negima!" is still continuing.

Well, I decided it was about time we started moderating series comments. We had gone through some of the more popular series and seen a lot of foul language, spoilers, etc. While we respect your right to have an opinion, we decided to draw the line for some comments. Let me tell you, after the staff and I (mainly lambchopsil and I) got through all 3000 or so in the database, we can tell you it's a LOT cleaner than it was. I hope this helps the community and helps make our site a bit friendlier. From now on, comments that have not been moderated will have a warning in bold right above the comment text stating this fact. Comments will usually take a day to be moderated, at which time this warning will disappear.
Thank you all, and we hope you continue to support the site!
Hey all!
I went to this years Otakon and thought it was pretty good. There were a lot of really nicely done cosplays, and the general mood of the convention center was very high. For those of you who cosplayed, awesome job! Saw the FMA movie with the few thousand or so other people.. That was quite an experience.. never watched an anime with so many other people before.. especially screaming fans.. haha. Went to a lot of panels, saw a bit of the masquerade (which was awesome btw), and the fan parody show. I was pretty impressed with how large of a convention it was and how many people were there. Might end up going to ACEN next year, not sure if I'll have time, but who knows. It was definitely worth the trip.
Until next time! Post a comment here if you went!
