'Monster' Hollywood Movie news

wellzy4eva writes: Josh Olson has been signed to adapt the best-selling Japanese manga series Monster for New Line Cinema. He also did the adaptation of the graphic novel A History of Violence for the studio. Monster is a psychological thriller that centers on a young doctor who saves a little boy's life. A few years later, the doctor learns that the boy he saved has turned into a masterful killer. The protagonist must track down the killer and ultimately attempt to solve an even larger conspiracy. A bit of interesting news. I'm definitly a big fan of the series! Let's see where this one goes.

We also have three new reviews! Check them out here!

Tama-Chan Scans closing

It appears Tama-Chan Scans is closing down.

From the channel: "I regret to announce that TamaScans will be closings it's doors very soon. It hasn't been settled yet what wil happen to our projects, but it looks like a definite yes that Yawara will continue with our affiliate ZombieScans. Join them now at #Zombie-Zone"

Click on the group name above to see what projects Tama-Chan Scans has which will be affected. It's a shame that they are closing, and we at manga-bu would like to wish each member of their team luck in their future endeavors.

Update 7/6 - Or not?
Their channel topic has been changed to:

"We ARE NOT DEAD YET! We are working to bring you more stuff, just wait and pray!"

Stay tuned.

Update Looks like they're back in action. Guess they decided to stick around!

Old Releases

I implemented a feature that allows people to add old releases. When you add it, we will approve it as an 'old release' and it will be input into the database with a date of 'Unknown' and basically appear at the end of our database (in the oldest part). That way, the releases will show up in the database, but they won't be treated as new releases when we approve them. So, if you want to add some old releases now, feel free to do so! Please specify that it is an old release in the comments section of the release form, so that we know it is an old release.

Genres and more news on authors section

Genres:
I added a little genre's page that lists all the genre's that baka-updates manga has, and you can access it by clicking on "Genres" on the menu to the right. You can search series/authors by genre's with a link and it also shows how many of each type we have in our database. (Yes Pender!! If you still visit the site, I hadn't forgotten!)

Authors:
I tried cleaning up the authors section a bit. Since the section is new, there are still many errors such as duplicates and incorrect ordering of names. (Baka-Updates does family name, followed by given name). If you see a mistake, don't hesitate to join and help us correct them!

To show how the new authors system works, we have some information that was added by some users.

TANEMURA Arina by neko-bot
TAKAYA Natsuki by neko-bot
NAKAJO Hisaya by neko-bot
MIZUSHIRO Setona by Xandra Kitee
KAMIO Youko by Xandra Kitee
CLAMP by quethiril (just a picture)

Also a special thanks to all those who have added information but are not listed here. A special note that a capitalized name in the author name represents the family or surname. Some of these may be incorrect, but we will try to iron out the bugs within the coming weeks.
