Primarily known as anime director working for Tatsunoko. He directed (and sometimes co-created) most of the studio's biggest hits of the 70's, including the "Time Bokan"-series.
He had a short career as a mangaka before that. In 1957 Sasagawa became the first full time assistant of Tezuka Osamu and in 1958 he made his solo manga debut with the series "Tantei Gakkou" in Shounen Gahou. His 1963 manga "Maken Gorou" was the basis for the 1972 Toei anime "Maken Liner 0011 Henshin seyo!".
