In 1987 he received an Honorable Mention in Weekly Young Magazine monthly rookie awards.
He has been involved in a wide range of activities outside the manga world, in 2005 he involved as a costume designer in an opera. In 2015 he was in charge of the concept art for Kouhaku Uta Gassen performance of KOBAYASHI Sachiko (a relative of KOBAYASHI Makoto).
He also involved in video works and has appears as an actor.
