Oguguo worked as an comic illustrator, helping to illustrate a comic called Samurai Tophat. He also created a short story called Candle Jack, the pages of which remain on his DeviantArt account.

Oguguo co-founded MyFutprint Entertainment LLC, the group which publishes Apple Black. He also graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor's degree in fine arts with a concentration in drawing and a minor in computer science. Oguguo later earned his Master's degree in visual communication design at the university.
