Died of colorectal cancer at age 64, on August 28th 2014 at hospital in Yokohama.
HIRAMATSU Shinji, SATO Terushi, KUROSAKI Kazuto, NASU Kiichiro and MURAKAMI Motoka were his assistants.
He admired his senior MOTOMIYA Hiroshi and called him “Onii-chan”.
He had no baseball experience when he started drawing Astro Kyuudan, he asked for an advice from KAWASAKI Noboru who was serializing Kyojin no Hoshi, and then he found out that Kawasaki also had no experience in baseball. Astro Kyuudan was a big hit, lasted 20 volumes and adapted into live-action in 2005.
