His first work, "Chikyuu abunashi!" ( 地球危し1) was published in 1958, when he was still in junior high. After graduating from high school, he became an assistant of Tezuka Osamu.
He had most success with manga adaptations of anime shows, most notably "Kaze no Fujimaru" and Super Jetter. In more recent years he has mostly written historical manga.
He died on April 16, 2021, in Tokyo.
Oze Akira and SHINTAKU Yoshimitsu were once his assistants.
