
Born in June 1971, Kuro studied art at the Pratt Institute in New York from 1991 with the aim of becoming an illustrator. He left New York midway through his degree and in December 1995 started work as a manga artist for Barazoku magazine. His debut work was published in Barazoku’s February 1996 issue and he continued to work there until the magazine ceased publication.
Nohara currently continues to work as an illustrator for such women’s magazines as OZ Magazine and has also been commissioned to produce event flyer and album artwork for cali≠gari guitarist Aoi Sakurai. Nohara has also produced a number of posters and condom packaging artwork as part of a Japanese AIDS awareness campaigns.
Since 2009 Nohara’s work “The Guys from the Boarding House” (Geshuku no Oniisan) has been serialized in Badi magazine and the e-book version of the manga is now available.
Nohara’s other works “Milk” (3 volumes) is also available in original and e-book format from Furukawa Shobo. (Japanese language) Nohara continues to illustrate for Samurai ELO and Sweet magazines.
