Born the daughter of a geisha in Gion , she worked as a hairdresser while aiming to become a manga artist, and made her debut as a rental manga artist in 1962 with her collection of short stories "Sumire" from Kinensha . She then moved to Tokyo and joined Ikegawa Shinji 's Taiyo Pro. She later married Ikegawa, but they divorced due to Ikegawa's religious devotion and violence. From 1967 she began working on horror manga for Hibari Shobo , and in later years also wrote ladies' comics .
