Grew up in Koushi, Kumamoto prefecture.

Usuta Kyosuke is a pen name. Originally he submitted the name Usuta Sosuke (うすた宗介), it was taken from worchestershire sauce which commonly called usuta sosu in japanese. Then it became Kyosuke (京介) after a typo by Jump editorial.

In 1990, he won the 2nd Weekly Shonen Jump‘s GAG King Special Award for "The ★ Tenuki-kun Objective Vinegar Go-kun".

In 1991, he received the 34th Akatsuka Award Honorable Mention for "Soreyuki! Unidentified Flying Object Man".

In 2016, the newcomer award on Shonen Jump Rookie was named "Usuta Kyosuke Manga Award”.

Was once an assistant to INADA Koji in Dragon Quest - Dai no Daibouken. Among his assistants there were MURATA Yuusuke (Bushizawa Receive), SAITO Sakae, MICHIMOTO Munenori (Sexy Commando Gaiden) and FUJINO Kohei (Pyu to Fuku! Jaguar).

Friends with KANO Yasuhiro, KUBO Tite & AMANO Akira.

He is married to SAKAKI Kenji and lives in Sapporo, Hokkaido since December 2018.
