Maya Koikeda debuted in a 4-koma magazine. Most of her early works are 4-koma, and her technique of making each of the consecutive stories into a larger whole won her attention. Her stories are not limited to 4-koma magazines, she has in fact appeared in seinen magazines, josei magazines, and web magazines. Maya Koikeda is a pen name. Her real name is Keiko Yamada, and her pen name was created by saying backward the syllables from her real name. Koikeda graduated with a degree in art from the Kyoto City University of Arts.
