He is known mainly for the Shaman King franchise.

TAKEI Hirofumi is his younger brother.

He studied under SAKURA Tamakichi as assistant on Shiawase no Katachi. He also the assistant of WATSUKI Nobuhiro during Rurouni Kenshin & KIRIYAMA Kouji on Ninku. Along with Watsuki & ODA Eiichiro, he contributed an illustration of "Zaku" for the douujinshi "DRILL GUNDAM" (2000), published by ANZAI Nobuyuki's circle.

One of his main collaborators is DAIGO. Among his former assistants on Shaman King there were MATSUI Katsunori, TAKEYAMA Yuusuke, KAWANO Kei, & TANABE Youichirou.

Stated that he mainly influenced by TEZUKA Osamu, MIZUKI Shigeru, MATSUMOTO Leiji and ARAKI Hirohiko.

A big fan of Gundam and Mini4WD. He participated in a Mini4WD design contest by Corocoro comic when he was a junior high student, his design later became Dash No. 3 of Dash! Yonkuro. Recently his Mini4WD designs also produced into toys by Tamiya.
