Ushio Souji was a mangaka, animator and founder of P Productions, which produced a number of popular tokusatsu shows such as Magma Taishi and Kaiketsu Lion-maru.
His career started in 1939 at Toho, working for the animation department on propaganda movies.
In 1947 he made his manga debut with "Tantei 815-gou". He was relatively succesful at the time, but after founding P Productions in 1960 his focus shifted from manga to tokusatsu and subsequently his manga output dwindled significantly.
He died on March the 28th, 2004.
Ushio's real name was Sagisu Tomio. He has also used the pen name Wakabayashi Fujigo.
His son is the well-known music composer and producer Sagisu Shirou.
