He graduated from Musashino Art University. He was raised in Tohoku, and now lives and works in Tokyo. Although initially planning on becoming a musician, pilot or actor, he chose the profession of mangaka at the age of 24. His first successful serial was the futuristic 'Eden', published in Afternoon from 1997. His short stories have also been collected in book format.
Strongly influenced by Shin Seiki Evangelion by ANNO Hideaki.
