Finally, we have had some contact from Hochuuami, and they have formally announced that they are closing their doors to the scanlation world. (As some of you know, their old domain expired and we lost contact with them...) They have also said that some of their old projects will be continued by Urusai!.
Officially announced on their old site at http://hochuuami.raygungeisha.com/
Yeah, it's a generic poll...All genres were taken from our [sitelink=genres.html]Genre[/sitelink] page, so if you don't know what a particular genre is, check that out. I realize that "doujinshi" doesn't really count as a genre, but whatever...
Some of you will be at odds with which genre to choose since I put up EVERY genre we have, so be decisive and click the button!
You're welcome to discuss your genres here:
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=8104
And in case you were wondering, this is actually the first time we repeated a poll. (The previous genre poll was...2005...)
As for all of you that voted in the beta recommendation system poll, thank you for your vote! We hope to develop that system better in the near future.
**[color=red]Edit: That sure was interesting, hahaha. Just to tell you guys, before I changed the poll, romance was beating yaoi (by about 20 votes)! Anyways, if you didn't know, I changed some of the options of the poll, and everyone gets to vote again~
I still think that several of the options don't count as "genres" really, but oh well.[/color]**

TAKEI Masaki (original character designer of Immoral Sisters, Dragon Knight: The Wheel of Time) will launch the manga version in the December issue of [sitelink=publishers.html?id=87]Jive[/sitelink]'s Monthly Comic Rush magazine. The manga was announced in the current Comic Rush issue on September 26, and the December issue will actually ship on October 25.
The creators of the original Linebarrels of Iron manga have taken the unusual step of adapting the first episode of the anime version back into manga. SHIMIZU Eiichi and SHIMOGUCHI Tomohiro have been serializing Linebarrels of Iron (Kurogane no Linebarrel), a story about a boy who pilots a 21-meter-tall robot for a secretive conglomerate, in [sitelink=publishers.html?id=9]Akita Shoten[/sitelink]'s Champion Red magazine since 2004. To commemorate the October 3 premiere of the anime adaptation, SHIMIZU Eiichi and SHIMOGUCHI Tomohiro created a oneshot of Linebarrels of Iron in Weekly Shonen Champion, a magazine that caters to a younger audience than Champion Red. The oneshot, which appears in this year's 44th issue of Shonen Champion on Thursday, recreates the entire first episode of the anime version.

The Sukima Shiki series of oneshot stories will launch in the December issue, which will ship on October 28.
Sukima Switch performed the "Zenryoku Shōnen" song that served as a theme song on the two-volume Tokyo Marble Chocolate romance anime project. Tokyo Marble Chocolate commemorated the 20th anniversary of both the Production I.G anime studio and the BMG Japan music label.*

Hirano is planning to start his next work in the beginning of next year.
The same Young King Ours issue has also announced that HAYASHI Fumino, the manga artist of Neon Genesis Evangelion: Angelic Days and To Terra…Aoki Kōbō no Kiss, will launch a new title called Kami no Dice in the December issue (on sale on October 30).
Dark Horse Comics will publish the ninth volume of the Hellsing manga in North America this month, and ADV Manga finished publishing the six-volume run of Angelic Days last year.

DokiDoki, an old group for the yaoi community, has closed its doors finally.
They also have some raws and translations available. If you wish to take over their stuff, take a look at their site and contact monotone
Hoowee writes: *Well, this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone as we haven't updated in over six months now. Boku-tachi is officially shutting down. In the coming weeks, even this page will disappear.
All of our old releases that HAVE NOT been licensed will be available from this website.

I'm going to join the wonderful group Storm In Heaven, who will also be taking over the project Dawn Chilly Hands.
And as a parting gift, I give you Boku-tachi's last ever release, Chapter 10 of Eikou no Te [completing the series].
Thank you to everyone who supported this group for the past 4-5 years. It's been an enjoyable ride.

disband Forever More. Sadly, I don’t have enough time to keep it up
anymore. It was a very difficult decision I had to make, because I really
enjoy working on all those smutty pages filled with boys’ love. Luckily I
don’t have to entirely give up on that because I’m working for a publisher, so
you might see my name occasionally in boys’ love mangas again.
I’ve asked the ladies at Dangerous Pleasure if they were willing to take over
our projects and they we’re so kind enough to say yes. They are one of my
favorite groups and I’m sure they will do a fantastic job, so please support
them~!
For those who are curious about what will happen with the website…I’ve
decided to keep the scanlation site the way it is right now, the staff tutorial
will be moved to DP’s webhost, and I’ll continue to scan lots of images for
the gallery, so that’s the only site that continues to be active.
I want to thank my staff for all their efforts and hard work throughout these
years; our fans and visitors who gave us their support; and the wonderful
ladies at DP for taking over our projects. bows-deeply Thank you. "

Well, we need some feedback for our new beta recommendation system. We're looking for how useful and accurate it's been in your opinion. Please answer honestly. [color=red]If you haven't used the recommendation system yet, please refrain from voting until you actually DO use it.[/color] We realize that it is still in beta, and this poll is the starting point for making the system better.
For more information about the beta recommendation system, please read this news post: http://www.mangaupdates.com/news.html?id=385
If you have a specific suggestion to make, go ahead and post something in the [sitelink=topics.php?fid=3837]Suggestions & Bugs[/sitelink] forum.
This poll will probably last half a month.
Previous Poll Results:
Question: What's your view on downloading anime/manga?

Don't do it. It's baaadddd - votes: 295 (2.7%)
It's alright as long as it's not licensed where I live - votes: 3982 (36.9%)
I can do it all I want! The internet is free! - votes: 6504 (60.3%)
There were 10781 total votes.
The poll ended: September 20th 2008
In my opinion, too many people are greedy little people that feel the internet is just for themselves. Perhaps what happened to the US anime industry will happen to the US manga industry some time in the future
But yeah, being what this site actually is, I wasn't expecting any different from the poll.
I was recently contacted by a member of a group (not a manga/anime group) who wanted to advertise on this website. The person stated that all I would have to do was host a stats counter from histats.com, and that I would be paid 3 WMZ per 1000 unique IPs on the counter (which is a really high return). (They also offered to pay through Paypal.) This immediately blew some whistles, but I sent him an email and asked for more information. He stated that he wanted to do it specifically on this website because he was a fan of manga. Going to several of his websites, I saw that he had some manga downloads, such as 20th Century Boys and others. He promised weekly payments.
This is a scam. The link that he wanted me to post opened IFRAMEs to popunder advertising websites for spyware applications.
I do not know why they are specifically targeting manga websites, but in case you are contacted in the same manner, please ignore the request. If it's too good to be true, it IS too good to be true. It's impossible to make easy money on the internet.
Stay Aware.
