I would vote "it doesn't matter", as in the previous one, but the image of a simultaneous marriage proposal is amazing. I want to see that.

I voted simultaneous in the last poll but put It doesn't matter for this one because a simultaneous marriage proposal seems just a little too stupid.

Honestly I don't even see the value in having a proposal be on-screen in a romance story. You want to have them be engaged or married in an epilogue (Silver Spoon had Hachiken and Mikage engaged in the last two chapters, for instance, after a 4-year time skip), great. But the proposal itself? Who fucking cares, the only time there's any sense of drama in a proposal scene is if the person gives a completely unexpected "no".

I care about the proposal if it's unusual or original 😉 and... Yeah. I can remember exactly one scene I adored, from some popular music manhwa I can't remember the name of. And which I can't find right now.

But that's essentially the only marriage scene I remember. But then again, they tend to not be a thing for most shoujos or seinen, and I never read much josei, so maybe I'm unfair?

You took the words right out of my mouth.

Now, I'm almost tempted to make a thread asking for recs of this...

Great, I wanted to see this poll!

Personally, I think it's really hard to answer, at least for me. Because on the one side, I only majorly know the usual guy proposal and cannot imagine it otherwise, on the other hand I'm fully aware of how outdated the concept is.

So I stuck with the main character option, because I tend to read stuff with active main leads, not shy or passive ones. And while it should obviously not matter, it's more fun to see the main lead stress about it beforehand.

Your wish has come true.

It was a mere suggestion but thanks for making it a poll. I'm really curious to see the results! I chose 'The Guy' because that's what I'm more used to. But I don't mind if a girl proposes first instead. It would actually be interesting 🙂

Stay safe and happy voting!

Although i don't really care if the female does it or if they do it simultaneously; but if I had to choose only one, I would choose The Guy.

It's not about the gender norms or anything, it's just that I always enjoy seeing the girl's reaction to that the most. I really like seeing them shocked then breaking down in happiness to that, its a great moment.
Them doing it Simultaneous might do that but I feel its more likely that would be used as comedy more and take away from the moment.

Plus I do also enjoy the guy being brave and doing it (especially all those wimpy manga/anime guys we usually get lol).

Everything with me is, if it makes sense to the plot, then "It doesn't matter."

We could also have a poll on what kind of setting should be used for confessions/proposals, unless it's already done. Some prefer a sunset backdrop on beach, some prefer a morning at the end of a long struggle, etc.

How about "some third party should do it"?
Have a love rival, friend or parent ask "are you going to get married?" while the couple hasn't even discussed it yet.

There should be an option "I've never seen marriage in a manga except Clannad (wait that was an anime / VN) when I was a kid".
