Decline in Novel Release Listings
Many of you complain about seeing so many novel releases (about half of the listed releases every day are from novels). In case you didn't know, you could hide all those novels by going to edit your user profile and look at the "Types to Hide" field.

Anyways, if you fall in that camp, you'll be happy to know that a lot less novel releases will be listed on MangaUpdates. This isn't due to a policy change though. It's actually because almost every novel release for the last 1.5 months has been added by me, and quite frankly, I'm tired. I won't be adding any more novels now, as it took up way too much of my time.

Like I said, there's been no policy change. We'll still approve any novel releases you add as long as they follow our other content policies such as belonging to a group listed on MU, we can verify the release, etc. Please give the correct release date if it was a date in the past.

Reminder that we don't have restrictions on who can add what releases. You don't need to belong to the scanlation group in order to add a release by them.

What happened with that person, that always added a mass of releases? He/ she disappeared a month ago?

Another solution would be to copy past the releases from novelupdates.
Maybe an update is needed to make an automatic adding system for releases, so that they only need to be checked and approved. To say it in other words, a bot that automatically checks batoto or a regular group every hour and adds the release to the database. This will lower the work for admin and updaters. This is just an idea, maybe it helps?

Another option would be to search for more updaters. But, I have no idea how to do this.

Correct. I don't know what happened, as he/she hasn't responded to my messages.

I wish, but we don't have a programmer with the time. That's why there hasn't been many changes to MU in many years

If someone's that passionate about novels, I'll take 'em

Huh, idk you've been adding the novel all by yourself lately lamb, if it's tedious I guess it's ok to reduce the number of novel release listings mmm...

After all novel readers already have that novelupdate website, which I think is not affiliated to this site mmm...~?

I see, thanks for the info. I was annoyed by especially the Chinese novels with their OP MCs, so I just blocked the groups which released them, while I still follow some Japanese light novels.

Hey, I went to "User Control Panel" and all I could filter out is genres. I don't see a way to choose novels to filter out.

Also, that control says it only affects the "new releases" list.

Am I missing something?

lambchopsil,

Thanks for all the hard work. Because of your efforts I was able to find many different translated novels that I could enjoy. Thanks Again laugh

If it wasn't such a pain to add new release i would have done it a long times ago, at least for stuff i read, but wasting a minute or 2 adding each release is too much of a waste of times for me. It would be nice if it was easier to add new chapters.

I'm half agree with you, also as a novelupdates subscriber. There are pros and cons, I like MU script which you manually add how many chapters you have read even though the released chapters is not up to where you read. But NU can't so yeah, I like MU better than NU.

You actually can do that in NU, but you have to change the settings for that particular reading list so if you only want to do that for one novel in your, let's say, "up to date" reading list, then, yes, you are screwed. I like some things of MU and some of NU, but I like to keep my reading lists separated (manga, novels and "watched list" for anime) so I use both and MAL for what their names stand for.

Maybe if I was already good at programming, I could help out a bit in MU, but I'm just beginning to learn so...
