New Poll - Manga Cafe
This week's poll is from icassop. If there was a manga cafe near you, would you go? I'd probably try it once, but I'd be too busy to go again. Reminds me of the time I visited a board game cafe. I'd love to go again though!
You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related)

Previous Poll Results:
Question: A particular group has been scanlating a series you like to read. Suddenly a new group starts doing the same series. You...
Choices:
Keep with the old group's version - votes: 1027 (11%)
Read the new group's version - votes: 31 (0.3%)
Read both versions - votes: 843 (9.1%)
Read the faster version - votes: 3706 (39.8%)
Read the higher quality version - votes: 3696 (39.7%)
There were 9303 total votes.
The poll ended: April 24th 2015
Oh wow, that's a really close split between faster vs. better quality!

Not visiting that cafe; not even once.

These are very cheap and pretty cool indeed. I would try to socialize as i am not a complete creep but Lots of times, mainly for the manga it is. (A dedicated board games or D&D place would also be nice).
It´s a shame that comic/manga are such a redheaded stepchild in the west as of now. Even libraries treat them like dirt. Ah the irony but i try what i can.

I'd probably try it once. After that, it would depend on if the place was good.
Assuming its good, then I'd go for the manga. I already have internet at my house and places that don't focus on food will either overcharge, have crappy food, or both.

Hmmm... this is an interesting question. I'm agoraphobic, so I definitely wouldn't go often. Even if I did, I'd be that guy nobody approaches because I don't exactly look friendly (usually my facial expression). My default expression looks uninterested and unwelcoming. Though, when somebody does strike a conversation that's relevant to my interests, they'll have a hard time getting away because I wont shut the fuck up. That's why I make such long posts.
I don't think there's enough people in and around Green Bay that enjoy manga for a business like a manga cafe to survive. Maybe if they sold pipes, because those businesses are thriving around here. There's like 7 or more head shops, or shops that sell pipes among other things. I may be wrong though. I don't really talk to anyone, so there may be more manga fans than I think.

"I guess I'd try it once..."
I've never been to one, so I wouldn't know why I'd go there regularly. First instinct would be for the manga of course, second for the socializing. for the internet, no I've got nice wifi at home, why go out for that; for the food/drinks, haha no, I'm way too cheap a person to buy at a cafe regularly

Yeah, I'd go.
Especially since it'd be interesting to meet other manga readers and maybe find interesting manga to read.
I'd much rather visit a theme cafe though (like a maid cafe, obviously),
for the actual coffee and pretty girls. : D

Who needs girls if you got Owl Cafes?
The links even include a penguin bar! So this is what Pen-Pen has been up to.
I wonder if this would be legal in Europe.

If there was at least one, I would visit it for Lots of times, mainly for socializing and Food and Drinks...it's always great to meet up with similar minded people and have some worthwhile discussion and Debate over a common subject, while eating and drinking something(s) nice...
Alas there is none around...I want to at least try it out once...^^

I agree!
Whenever I meet another manga fan, there is an instant connection! It's an amazing thing I don't experience that often with my friend groups--the feeling of conversation going on and on for hours! Wow!
It'd be nice if there is a manga cafe where we are offered makeshift disguise to stay anonymous and away from friends' views lol.

I live in Japan and I never go to manga cafes. Although, to be fair, it's not like they're in English. But I don't really feel like I'm missing much

Well, I'm already broke from weekly Starbucks trips, but...
I would love to visit and talk to other manga readers! The tricky thing is that I like to project myself as a very casual manga reader, so it'd be weird for people to see me in a cafe DEDICATED to manga. Sigh... My friends (most of them) believe that I've gotten over the "manga phase" already...
If the place has a neutral atmosphere (nothing weird, no boobs on posters, etc.) I would probably visit more than once ... but i would definitely go in disguise. lol.

I'd like to think I'd try it at least once, but honestly, the idea kind of makes me uncomfortable (like conventions) so most likely not.

There is actually one somewhere here, but I’ve never gone there so far. People saying that it’s cheap... lel
But I had almost forgotten about that place, maybe I’ll try it out once. Dunno if it’s really the kind of place everybody seems to be imagining here though.
