New Poll - Can't Sleep
This week's poll from icassop is just a random one. For most people, there's just those times where you're deprived of your beauty sleep and probably feel really drained the next morning. What's the most common reason this happens to you? And my assumption is that no one always gets the perfect amount of sleep their entire life. I'm guessing it's a safe assumption.

You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related)
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: Assuming your favorite series is on many mediums, and they're all good, but which do you enjoy the most?
Choices:
The manga - votes: 6361 (53.6%)
The anime - votes: 2489 (21%)
The light novel - votes: 879 (7.4%)
The game - votes: 287 (2.4%)
The live action movie - votes: 56 (0.5%)
I enjoy them all equally - votes: 1796 (15.1%)
There were 11868 total votes.
The poll ended: May 3rd 2014

Yes, a lot of people said they'd have picked the option where they'd enjoy the original the most, but I was trying to avoid that option in particular, hence not having it as a choice.

We got a puppy about a month ago, so clearly the pet option currently.

Other than that it's usually because of reading novels, but I went with how it's right now.

Video games, I think I play too much,
Result, my mind is filled with the games that I played (even when I'm trying to sleep already), or tactics on which I'd use next, strategies, etc...

Yeah, Video games for me..

I stay up late because of the internet sure, but I always go to sleep when I'm tired and I'm usually fine. But when I'm dead the next morning it's mostly because my flatmate come back drunk with friends and they make a lot of noise and stay up all night talking and the walls are paper thin so I can hear everything, even when they keep it down, so I have to wait for them to shut up before I can sleep, and sometimes I have to wait until 6am to get some shut eye.

Such is student life.

Studying, of course. I bitterly regret the day I chose to try for medical college; it's still only my first year as a med student, and I'm already falling asleep in the middle of the day and all over the place because there's too much damn work to do... And this is supposed to be the easiest year, practically a cakewalk compared to what's to come! dead

Conventions should have been one of the options

Why no "thinking about every single stupid thing I ever did" option?
I'll go with "neighbours/family/roommates then, although the neighbours got much quieter recently (probably due to my constant nagging)

Lol, I'm much the same. I'd say the insomnia/ I just can't sleep option covers it though.

Cellphone should be an option, and that means for me manga/other reading/internet/music and ocationally pillow talk

whoops i misread the question, thought it said "when you can't sleep, it's mostly because of"... so i put "i just can't sleep". But me being sleep deprived is usually because of the Internet lol.

Internet seems to consist of everything that make me sleep deprived. Manga, tv shows, and homework.

If I could choose all that apply (in order of most sleep-depriving to least): Manga, The Internet, Music, Other Reading, Homework / Studying, Video Games. Surprisingly, I haven't been playing video games, and music has been taking up more and more of my time. I have to be ready to play in three orchestras every week, and I do a lot of music arranging, after dark. Still, I waste more time reading manga than anything else.

hmm for me the first reason of being sleep-deprived is partying I guess. I often get home at ~7 now which completely destroys me the next day dead Second is studying. It gets extremely exhausting during the times when we have to finish our projects and the third one is the internet.

I'm usually sleep deprived because of homework. Although sometimes it's because of the combination of manga, anime and homework. :3
My eyes regret it the next day because I go to college in the morning.

Ditto! For some reason, the lure of fanfiction is much more stronger than manga for me...
I can pause my reading of a manga with a chapters or so but I always have the urge to finish fics before I go to bed!

thread

» Nekore on May 8th, 2014, 1:09pm

I have almost the same problem... but I can't stop reading AFTER I go to bed, and as it's hard to read manga on the phone... you can guess.

Music, I listen to them with the excuse "just one more song" and before I know it, I only got 3-4 hours to sleep left. Well, not only sleep, I have a national exam tommorow, yet here I am posting here via my ipod (to listen to the musics ofc).. I guess int is also a reason, but i can hold back.

The internet. Sometimes, I become frighteningly aware of all the time I have wasted but then I think 'nah can't stop won't stop'. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
I am driven by the belief 'It's not 'tomorrow' till I sleep'.

Depends. I picked insomnia, but really, it could have been just about anything. Novels mangas animes dramas or I'm just too lazy to get up and turn off the light, and thus spent two hours clicking mindlessly through random sites. I need to fix that light remote that got a bit... soaked... Other times, I'm just too into something and forgot to look up at the clock. I suppose that can be categorized as work.

But still, insomnia.
