Medieval fantasy world? Wouldn't wanna be a woman. I'd be boned in every sense of the word.

Future current world? No real preference. I'm boned either way.

I just interpreted the question as modern times and going forward as I didn't see a reason to think it would be reincarnation to the past (how is this possible?? Most religions do have some component of reincarnation, so I ran with the idea of death and reincarnation as the premise -- genuine belief withstanding). I chose to be reincarnated as what I am now.

I'd choose to stay a woman, but maybe a different race or class might be interesting, depending on where I'm transported/reborn.
Men tend to live harsh (violent) lives in comparison to women - historically speaking and in general - so despite the possibility of being reincarnated as a handsome high-spec guy with either a BL harem of cute muscular men, or a harem of hot hentai chicks, I'd rather just be a girl like I am now. I'm not looking to be killed in battle or something.
But I definitely need to be the prettiest possible version of myself, lol. Otherwise it's no fun at all.

I chose woman (currently a woman), but man might be the better choice? If you can't choose which country you're reincarnated into as a woman, you could end up somewhere with FGM, where your opportunities for attending school or working are severely limited, etc. And you might not have to fight in a war, but you could still get bombed or raped by soldiers. I feel like 'man' gives a better chance of having a decent life.

(Also, this is assuming that we're referring to this world. If it's reincarnation in another world, I don't think this is an answerable question, one gender could turn into potatoes at the age of 13 for all we know.)

I saw the poll like this: would you change your biological gender or keep it if you had the chance to start over in another world? And it seemed to want to find out if there's a difference between how male and female bodies are seen in those fantasies by people who inhabit those bodies.

Yeah, options could be included for a million things, so maybe a 'male to other' and 'female to other' could have been added (maybe someone wants to be part of a race that doesn't have any reproductive organs and self-replicates).

But overall, I think this poll is revealing something interesting about how we perceive biological gender in fantasy. I honestly wonder how the results may be different if this is done in another 20 years.

Personally, as a male who is perfectly fine with being a male and is attracted exclusively to women, I would choose to become a woman. Why? Mostly curiosity with a small side of (and I'm probably mistaken here) 'I think dating would be easier.' Also, girls get to wear way more interesting clothing without looking stupid. My only hangup would be if my hypothetical period completely sucked or not.
