New Poll - Age
This week's poll from CuthienSilmeriel is very simply a demographics one. And yes, the age intervals aren't quite even, and this was done on purpose. Not much to discuss about this one...

http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Too young to feel so old. ( ; ▽ ; )ノ

Why I'm I not surprised that 80% is between 18 and 30 years?

And the ones older, are way younger under the skin.

Manga is a treasure that most peole discover in their student time?

Or have the Dragonball and Pokémon rages of the past something to do with it?

Add Sailor Moon to that. I feel old reminiscing about my first animes and mangas.
laugh Anyway, I just turned 24 last month.

You might have something there. Pokemon, DBZ, and Sailor Moon were, usually, the first anime/manga that many of us started with. Of course, my first anime was actually Vampire Hunter D when it showed on Cartoon Network back in 91, but I didn't start becoming a fan of it until DBZ and Sailor Moon on Toonami.

I turned 29 this month. Got into anime and manga over a decade ago.

Sighhh! Thanks for reminding me about my age! I'm probably too old to be reading manga now... but then, I'm probably too old to be doing almost everything else I'm doing right now! Severe late-bloomer syndrome... dead

Haha I just turned 22 yesterday, so I can choose the 22-25 option now XD

I don't feel 22 though. I swear my head still thinks I'm 18 or something. It seems to be in denial that I'm graduating this year and I need to get a job. Nopenopenopenope

the one who interest is actually children or who used to be children who read manga.
i'm not really surprise that 10 or under is the least.
because, either they buy the book or don't even know that mangaupdates exists in the first place biggrin

The person who suggested the poll thought most would be teenagers. Well, I knew that's not the case.

Usually I'm in the minority—now I'm in the majority.

As for the side discussion going on, I "read" manga before I could read. The first anime I watched was properly Doraemon or Lupin III or something equally mainstream. But who knows, maybe it was Jarinko Chie or Macross or whatever else they happened to show.

I think this site is kind of losing its place in the younger demographic. It was/is great for when finding a release. But if all you read is on sites like Batoto you have no reason to visit this site.

That's very true. One prime reason for my visits to MU is the polls which are fun to vote on and comment on =)

I use this site to document my read mangas so it doesn't double up.

Nice to know I'm in the majority. Was getting worried there might be too many young'uns around.

EDIT: Looks like I spoke too soon.

My poll, yay. I've been curious about this for ages.

Personally I'm 25, but I started reading manga when I was 13. I never considered that all of us from the Pokemon (DBZ and Sailor Moon as well for those of you across the pond, though they weren't really big in the UK) generation are now in our 20s, I feel old now!

I'm happy so many of us continue to enjoy manga, but a little sad that younger teens don't seem to be discovering it, or maybe they're just not discovering MU.

I'm 15 in two weeks! I've been into manga/anime for about 5 years now and I'm finding I get slightly more obsessed every year biggrin I'm a bit surprised there aren't more people in the 14-17 and 18-21 range. I guess my opinion is biased because I spend so much time on here. Anyway I'm envious of all you slightly older folk... REALLY wish I could drive.(REALLY)

Hahaha, it will only get worse. After entering regular workforce, years seem to sprint faster and faster, each ending earlier than the last one. I dread to think how it will feel when I'm 40 or 50.
