Plot/Story
Twelve years ago, a demon fox attacked the village of Konoha (Leaf Village). It was a powerful one, but the Yondaime Hokage (Fourth Fireshadow) managed to seal it into an infant's body at the cost of his life. That baby is Naruto.
Naruto is shunned by others because of his demon fox. He soon becomes a genin ranked ninja and has a team consisting of Uchiha Sasuke, the genius, Haruno Sakura, the double-minded Sasuke fangirl, and Kakashi, the strong, yet always late and perverted sensei.
Characters
Most of the more major good ninja have pasts, unless, they are purposely kept secret. Many of the villains have histories too. The protagonist and the villains each have their own ambition.
Naruto- A hyperactive kid that was shunned by others because he had the Kyuubi inside of him. He tried to gain attention until he became a genin and had a team. At that point, people slowly started to respect him more and more.
Haruno Sakura- A fangirl of Sasuke's and a girl who has split personalities, Sakura continuously tries to get Sasuke to pay attention to her. She starts out weak, but slowly gets stronger.
Uchiha Sasuke- The last member of the Uchiha clan other than his brother, Sasuke swears that he will kill his brother and revive his clan no matter what. He soon obtains more power, but at a special cost...
Hatake Kakashi- A perverted sensei who always seems to be late, Kakashi is actually one of the strongest ninja in Konoha. When he was younger, he always abided to the rules, but after his friend died, he decided that although rules were important, sometimes, people have to break the rules when necessary.
There are plenty more characters, but there are too many too list. There are the more important ones.
Drawing Style
The drawing isn't bad, but there are a few problems with it. First of all, the drawings are all unique. Each person's eyes are different from each others and everybody's clothing is unique to one another. However, during the first part of Naruto, the drawing style for the body of people wasn't too good. The shading and background were great though. This reversed in the second part. The background was still very good, and the shape of humans had become ten times better, but the use of shading became limited, making it less realistic. All in all though, the drawing style is good.
Enjoyment
Naruto is quite enjoyable, especially the first couple arcs. It is very popular among the shounen community. However, because of this, many people also dislike it. Overall though, Naruto has excellent action, good humor, a lot of other great aspects.
Overall
Naruto is a good manga, and it is recommended. All aspects of it are good.
I realize this review was over five years ago, but I think it must be said that this brief rating of the series doesn't even come close in telling us the more acceptable aspects of Naruto.
True, the series has gone down in ratings over the past couple of years, but there must be a better way at describing it's plot. Simply retelling the story doesn't give any insight for the reader, and your generalized overview in telling us that this is a 'good manga' is as much help to us as saying 'read book, it helps you learn.'
I apologize for expressing my opinion to this extent, I hope that the reviewer can update it as I'm sure they've gotten better.
