Plot/Story
Kira is sitting at the park's bench drawing. A handsome boy asks her for direction. As soon as she realizes that it's the school's troublemaker, she draws a map and hands it to him, fleeing from a proper conversation.
But what she didn't realize is that at the back of the map there's a beautiful drawing of a mother holding her child. It's fate...

The story starts with Rei trying to talk to Kira, and Tatsuya, an old classmate from middle school times, confess to Rei he always had a crush on her. Rei starts to get in good terms with her, but since he's too popular, Kira gets blackmailed by her classmate Harumi. Once Tatsuya and Harumi realizes that actually Rei and Kira love each other, they leave them be.
But the plot is much more dense than this. Rei's past is full of misteries, secrets and missing parts. What happened to him in the past that made him forget about the details of his brother's accident? What made him feels responsible for it? Why does he gambles his life at the racetracks? How can someone despises life and himself to that point?
Also, what happend to Kira in the past that made her become affraid of men and unable to express herself but through art? These are some of the questions that may cross your mind and that keeps you reading it untill the end.

Characters
The main characters are wonderfully developed. If you judge the book by it's cover, you only see the shy girl who loves art and the mean boy who is selfish and self-centered, but everyone has their own reasons to become what they are.
As soon as you start reading it, you fall in love with them.
It's impressive how much we can get hurt with disturbed relationships, and the masks we wear to hide our scars. Besides, it's amazing how love can heal our souls and gives us hope, turning ourselves into someone better.
Sometimes Kira seems to be too defenseless, but you understand her better later. It's her kindness that makes Rei such a wonderful man, longing for life. They are their own source of faith and hope.
Some other characters, like Rei's father and friends, are beautiful and help to sustain the plot. You feel compassion about them, their faults and fears, and even get to love them in the end, after you understand them better.

Drawing Style
Souryo style is great, shows how much she understand about anatomy. From perspectives to the body and facial expressions, everything is drawn with a lot of precision and care. Also, the mangaka's style is classical, clean and expressive, you can observe it in Kira's eyes since the beginning. Also, you get astonished with the accurateness that she drew the Suzuka Circuit and the bikes. You can feel yourself drawn to the racetrack, with all those bikers, with all that speed. It's amazing!

Enjoyment
The author portraits with maestry the universve that we confine inside ourselves... and with extreme accurateness, she captures the subtilty of the nuances of a human soul... Our fears, our desires, the secrets we don't confess even to ourselves... our selfishness, our lack of humanity and our need for love and salvation...

Whoever start reading this story, will get deeply attached to the main characters, a kind soul and a troublemaker: the perfect couple. We might think at the beginning that Rei is the one protecting Kira, but when you read this, you realize that Rei is the one asking for redemption.

It's pure love from the beginning to the end.
