Plot/Story
As a kid, Kawagoe makes a wish during Christmas for a little sister. Years later, as an adult, he gets one. The sister is a bit strange and naive; always relying on a little guide book for which he names her after (chokko). The majority of the story revolves around Kawagoe's relationship with women and how Chokko reacts to the world around her. Arcs include stories on unrequited love, marriage, children, family, sex and death. It is a sweet tale with a few bitter moments mixed in.
Characters
Characters and their struggles are easy to connect to. I wouldn't condone some of their behavior though. Remember kids, stalking is a crime whether you are in the U.S. or in Japan, groping your neighbors isn't nice and incest is just plain wrong.
Drawing Style
Incredibly detailed settings, wonderful use of tones and beautifully drawn characters make this one of the best looking manga out there. There is quite a bit of nudity though, including Chokko who is not likely to be older than 10.
Enjoyment
Great story and great art. This is possibly the best slice of life manga I've ever read.
Overall
This is a touching story with incredible art. Really, the only thing keeping this from being recommended to everyone is the large amounts of nudity and sexual innuendo.
A typical review from a fan of the series who has no idea on how to be objective and is just in awe, about how amazing this manga supposedly is; without giving readers an idea, on what issues they may have with it.
