Tired of all those idiotic and wimpy protagonists from shonen series? Feeling bored from those repetitive idiotic/fart/pervet jokes? Cant handle those 50 chapter fights with a single enemy? Feel like giving up on shonen, because of those annoying last moment power-ups/training and clichfull stories?
If so,then Noblesse is a must for you. A wonderfull shonen series,a must for any shonen lover. Even if you are a female, the wonderfull storyline and the cute bishes will attract your attraction. Here is my (new/updated) review which will tell you the reasons, why one must read Noblesse.
(Please overlook my poor english skills...)
Plot/Story
The story is mostly a contemporary fiction. It mainly deals with the adventures of Cadis Etrama Di Raizel(aka Rai).Rai,who have awakened after a long slumber of 820 years, finds himself in a world which is completly different from the one he knew. The story focuses on Rai's journey to adapt to the new world, while staying with his devoted follower/servant,Frankenstein.As the story progresses with numerous advantures (both dangerous and ridicuolus) and introduction of many friends and foes (mainly from a secret organisation, the Union),we learn more about Rai and Frankenstein. We also learn about the mighty race known as Nobles.
If you are thinking, that the above paragraph is all there to the story, then you are definately wrong. I dont want to spoil the story for new readers and the current readers, already know whats there in the box.
I would say that the story is original and innovative in its own way. Yes,there are some ideas which have already been used in the past but Noblesse use them in more innovative way. The only turn-off thing for new readers will be its slow pace in the start. The story gains momentum around the firdt half of Season One,around chapter 75.
I would give it a rating of 4 in terms of story. It lost 1 point for its slow start, and some boring and forced moments.
Characters
Cadis Etrama Di Raizel:
The main protagonist,Rai is completly original and innovative, both in terms of personality and his powers, the likes we rarely ever see in shonen. He generally doesnt react to anything, except technology and Ramen. His character is hard to guess as he rarely speak and react in any dangerous situation, making one wonders if he even gives a damn.He is not your typical idiotic protagonist, who makes us annoyed by their wimpy and idiotic personality. He doesnt hesitates to kill an enemy and well,he dont preach them about friendship or any other bullshit. Generally,a shonen protagonist looses a battle till the end and at the final moments,he gains power/strength after seeing his friends in danger or something like that. Well,in Rai's case its total opposite.... Rai from the start overpowers them and no matter how much enemy power-ups,it doesnt means a damn to Rai. This are some of the moments where Rai talks and show affection to the people around him.
[i]Frankenstein[/m]:
The devoted follower of Rai,who is as mysterious as his master. For him,Rai is his world. He is one of the best character a fiction can have.
Good looking+Mysterious+Sinister(& sadist)+Smart.
Besides them, there is a group of children who are close friends with Rai. Then there is trio(M-21,Tao and Takeo--->Modified human who left Union) who are under the protection of Rai.All three of them have different and interesting personalities.
Then there are the young nobles,Seira and Regis. Both with the charisma of thier own.
Dr. Crombell:
Crazy scientist are common in fiction, but sadist, cunning and cool ones are pretty rare. Crombell is the main villain of the series, every incident in the series is someway related to Crombell.
Again,I would give it a rating of 4/5. I will remove one point mainly for the fact that the villains in the series were not given any different personalities or a backstory.
Drawing Style
The art is the best. I am not counting the starting chapters where the art was at its lowest level. If you will take a sneak view of future chapters(after first 30-40 chapters),you will notice that the art have gone through a huge development. The characters are well drawn and so are locations and battle scenes. Background is pretty detailed. Chapter length have increased as well.
Some of the chapters in Season 5 were not well drawn but thats fine as the art is regaining its quality again.
Enjoyment
Personally,I am a big fan of the series and so I will say its pretty enjoyable. The comedic time is good. The fights are pretty short but epic. Epic? Yes,you heard right...All the main fights are superb and well they will suerly leave a overlasting effect on you.
Overall
I reccomened it to every shonen reader out there. It has something, for everyone ~Action,Comedy,Drama,Sipernatural and Sci-fic.
Well, the starting is dull and slow...and if you can overlook that, you will suerly enjoy it.
Its really reccomened....Give it a try.
Thank You for reading my review.
