Plot/Story
This is the story of Ayu, a high school girl who has lost faith in the world and is prostituting herself, thinking that in this world, money is the only thing that matters. That is until she meets an old woman who changes Ayu's view on the world. When the woman dies, leaving behind her terminally ill, and long lost, adopted son, Ayu resolves to work honestly and save enough money for the boy to have his life saving operation.

Characters
The main character is Ayu, and the story revolves around her. Her background isn't described in the manga, but her thoughts and feelings help drive the plot. The other principle character is the old woman with whom Ayu talks to. She shows Ayu that despite the dirty world in which she lives in, she can still bloom if she tries hard. Other friends of Ayu include her boyfriend and her friend, both of which suffer because of their underground activities. Another character is the old woman's adopted son and his blood parents. He is terminally ill and needs an expensive operation to save him. Ayu treats him like a younger brother.

Drawing Style
The style is average. It's a semi shoujo style, but in keeping with the tone of the manga. The lines are clean and dark backgrounds are used for emphasise at times. Warning - there are many graphic scenes in this manga.

Overall
This is a dark manga dealing with many themes including rape, prostitution, death, teen preganancy, STDs... - there are too many to list. Ths story isn't uplifting but questions the ideals of the world and charts the changes in Ayu's attitude to the world because of those around her. Read this if you want a manga that makes you think. Don't read it if you are looking for a happy cheerful manga. And also, as pointed out above, this manga isn't suitable for those under 16 due to the graphic scenes and mature content.
