Plot/Story
The World is in collapse. Akumas, devils created with human souls by the misterious - and bizarre - Millennium Earl, destroy everything they see in their way. Claming to be making God's wishes becoming truth, the Earl plans to destroy the humans little by little... The World would be doomed if it weren't for a group called "The Dark Religious Organitazion" and their exorcists, people who fight with their special power 'innocence' to protect the place where they live.
And in the middle of all this there's Allen Walker, a 15 years old boy with a deformed arm which is his innocence. It can trasform and kill the enemy in a second... Isn't that very cruel to ask a young boy to do? But a war is a war, and Allen wants to fight to protect what's most dear to him.

Characters
Every character is unique and very special! It's hard to not love them, and the villains are adorable too! The personality of everyone is very detailed, and you know why they're doing what they're doing. They look pretty much like real persons, with their own personal reasons to act to save the world - or to destroy it. You can see them growing in the chapters and become more of what you expect them to be!

Drawing Style
The drawing style is really good! The only reasons why I gave it a 4 is because Hoshino's art can improve even more, as you can see from the previous mangas, and because sometimes it's so detailed it's confusing.

Enjoyment
It's published in JUMP, so why aren't you shounen fans reading it like, now? It got everything a serie need to captivate those who love manga centered in a great plot and characters you just want to see more and more.

Overall
D.Gray-man is a impressive manga with impressive plot twists and even more impressive characters. It's becoming really popular, so it may get an anime series and that would be really amazing. Every fan of shounen manga must read it - no one will get disappointed.

D.Gray Man has awesome characters that immediately sets you off on fangirl mode. It has comedy, angst, murder of the highest caliber!!!, possible love smoochy smoochy b/n characters, cute animal-like sidekicks, butt kicking action, and some cool looking bad guys (tikki mikki i'm eyeing you)

Personal Thoughts:
My relationship with D.Gray Man has been bittersweet. When i first picked this series up, i thought the premise of it was interesting enough so i kept reading it, but than I dropped it. I felt like the action was hard to follow, so i had to read the chapters multiple times just to wrap my mind around it(I don't mind detailed drawings, but please make it easy on me to follow the action!!!), and the mangaka's world seemed a bit disjointed or underdeveloped at the time (or mayBe I'm picky) i never really understood if the ordinary person knew about the akumas and "how" are they kept ignorant of their existence. Anyways i just recently picked it back up and i have to say im in love with it!!!! I suppose some intriguing questions have been answered and the sequence of the action doesnt bother me so much.

It's so cute and funny^^ but also dramatic and well drawn, and fun to read.
I disagree with the review about the drawing, it's very good and what is wrong with it being detailed? It only adds and is another reason to give the art a5.
About the other featurs I can not correct because the enjoyment and so are everyones own expirance.

D.Gray-Man and Death Note are my favourite mangas of all times - they are gothic and have a dark atmosphere but Death Note is very serious and sad, in contrast DGM is very funny and with adorable characters ^^
I love Komui too xP

a very unique manga i must say. DGM is not your average shounen-sort-of-manga. the plot is very different from others (well, at least in the shounen genre) and the characters are very lovable (no whiny genki girl in DGM xP). i love how hoshino-sensei mixed a lovely bunch of characters from different parts of the world together.. there's chinese, thais, japanese, british... other mangas rarely have this kind of diversity..
i was attracted to DGM mainly because of the artwork. hoshino-sensei's drawing style is definately <333...
and there's certain chapters which i find funny as hell... purely crack xDD (komui lol). and then, there's the sad parts too... but i do feel a lil uncomfortable reading the religious-supernatural parts ('cos i'm not christian and all) but it's not that bad... not too religion-sensitive for my taste..
it's a good mixture of humor + supernatural + goth =)

i'm quite surprised that there's not a lot of DGM fans around. this manga is definately a must read for shounen fans.
