Plot/Story
In the world of Orange Marmalade vampires exist. They're not the malevolent bloodsuckers Humans believe them to be. In fact most of them just try to live their lives as quietly and as humanly as possible. The story is about a teenage vampire girl doing just that, living as a human as quietly as possible. Past experiences have taught her that getting involved with others only leads to pain when they find out you're a "Monster".

Characters
The protagonist is a girl so shelled up in her emotional defenses that shes called an "Ice queen". It takes some very silly and very pushy girls to crack her armor and get her to loosen up so she can make friends again. Not only does she finally start interacting with others, but a couple close encounters brings her to the attention of the school's hottest guy who becomes interested in her.

Drawing Style
The drawing style is very Anime. The characters are somewhat simply drawn but the backgrounds are beautifully done. It has an artful quality that is very easy on the eyes.

Enjoyment
The characters are likable and the emotional drama is very captivating. The heroine's suffering is palpable. She's almost desperate to keep everyone further than arm's length so she'll never be hurt again. Its actually a relief when she starts letting her guard down and acts like a normal girl.

Overall
Overall, this is a really engaging webtoon. Its got a unique plot and good characters. It leaves me waiting almost impatiently for the next chapter to come out.

Something extra about the male lead character by cecropiamoth on January 9th, 2012, 6:34am
Rating: 3

From the beginning, this guy (name forgotten) presents himself as totally arrogant about his attractiveness to women. As he comes on to the female lead early in the manga she repeatedly rejects him, and every time she does that he is amazed. And usually he shows that amazement in very clear ways. Usually he asks "WHY don't you want to go out with me?" A pattern is created where he reacts this way. Several episodes later he knocks the girl down because he's angry about being rejected due to his arrogant egotism.

I'm a guy, and this and a couple of other shoujo manga convinced me to avoid them like the plague. The many adoring comments to Oramge Marmalade that referred to this male lead convinced me that, at least in the manga, world, girls are willing to put up with even the rudest treatment from a handsome guy. Later, from "Hot Gimmick" and others, I learned that even physical abuse will be forgiven by them (in the manga world anyway) if it comes from such a guy.

Kinda disappointing!
