Plot/Story
A young city woman with black hair like the night itself, a beautiful face like a goddess, and a body like a queen (Bek Sol A) collides with another woman - not very attractive, not very decent and not very smart (Kim No Ryo), who, moreover, almost slept through her classes at the university and, if not for her faithful friend (Hwang Hye Giyong), who woke her up with her phone message, then she (Kim No Ryo) would have been completely late. Having met under rather embarrassing circumstances (Kim No Ryo is so absent-minded that she confused the floor at the university she needed to get to), the two girls began to get closer, although until the very end of the manhwa (during Ssamba's lifetime) they behave like the two best girlfriends. From time to time, each of them tries to demonstrate to each other their romantic and erotic quivering feelings, but they are always hindered by something. However, the misfortunes that haunt Bek Sol a, one after another, and salvation from them, which for the sake of a friend is decided at breakneck speed by Kim No Ryo, I increasingly tie the girls to each other, which gives rise to the feeling that Bek Sol A - This is a kind of "well-deserved trophy" for Kim No Ryo, which the latter constantly conquers and rescues from various terrible situations, which means that she has every right not only to her friendly, but also other disposition. In this sense, this manhwa breathes with the spirit of medieval battles of a knight for a beautiful lady, when the most courageous, strong, dexterous and brave knight married a beautiful woman, for the sake of which he performed a certain heroic act. Apparently, this feeling brings them closer and closer together, however, Bek Sol A has already experienced intimate intimacy with another girl who died under strange circumstances (smelling like a shameful suicide, as it seems to me), and the fear that her new lover would turn out to be the same mean gossip , as if preventing her from plunging into a passionate and stormy romance with Kim No Ryo, although the parents of the latter clearly do not oppose her feelings for their relative and are even benevolent to her as to a future daughter-in-law. At some point, tormented by the memories of his former lover, Bek Sol A makes an effort of will and breaks up with her in his thoughts in order to move further in a relationship with a real loved one. However, their relationship still does not progress further than joint gatherings in the city institutions of the city in which they study, joint study, joint girls' pastime in their apartments, and ... saving each other from troubles that are more and more dangerous to each other for their lives. The final, in which Ssamba left this manhwa for us posthumously, is, in fact, open, and it is not clear how it will end after falling into the hands of fans and becoming fanfiction, although Ssamba managed to make several images before her death, on whom Bek Seol Ah and Kim No Ryo kiss each other. In this sense, "Quivering Feelings" repeat the fate of another novel - "The Brave Soldier Schweik", the author of which - Jaroslav Hasek - also died, finishing the last chapters with an already sick person. Although, unlike this melodrama, the work was satirical and written in much more homophobic times ... But, be that as it may, both novels in some incomprehensible way converged on the same thing: in condemning the propensity of men to manhood , in denouncing the brutality of civilized human males, in condemning the use of human intelligence by men for violence against unmarried young women.
Characters
Character Traits: Kim No Ryo
A friendly and good-natured girl, her own party girl on the board and generally cute and handsome. She loves drinking, having fun and, as my mother likes to say on such occasions, “loves to have fun - especially to eat: pick two or three loaves of bread in your teeth”. She lives frivolously and not disciplined: she is often late for classes at the university, is careless about the safety of her health, and generally lives as if after her there was a flood. But she is not devoid of a special courageous nobility: she can drop everything and help her friends in trouble, however, she will think before this for some time, trying to dissuade herself. And if he sees someone's lost soul, then he will guide you on the right path, letting the stern look of the alpha female at parting.
Character Traits: Beck Sol A
A beautiful, tall, slender, long-haired brunette, the dream of a poet and James Bond. He also loves drinking and hanging out, however, most often he prefers the company of lustful and predatory dorks. Despite the fact that she was announced at the beginning of the manhwa as the same age as Kim No Ryo, she still has a more adult outlook on life, more mature female behavior - moreover, she already knows how to drive and leads the life of a wealthy metrosexual woman, in contrast to from No Ryo, who lives more modestly. She has gone through several terrible personal crises in relationships with people of both sexes, so she is quite picky and exacting towards people. Apparently, her desire to hang out with human males is caused by tragic lesbian relationships in the past. And in Kim No Ryo, she clearly found a semblance of Yoo Ji, although better than her (they even have almost the same faces and hairstyles, more on that above). At the moments of her life, when she does not get drunk to the point of complete intoxication, she is very disciplined, responsible and in general an athlete, a good girl and just a beauty.
Character Traits: Hwang Hye Gion
The girl who plays the role of "piano in the bushes" in this manhwa: she, with a certain amount of disgust and disgust, helps Kim No Ryo and Bek Sol A in their educational, household and love affairs. She herself is not very attractive, and rather ugly. Among the aforementioned characters, she is rather a gray mouse, but what a useful one. Will send SMS if Kim No Ryo sleeps at university. Shall share photos with Bek Sol Ah, if suddenly there is a talk about her (about Kim No Ryo). In general, a real friend and almost an example to follow. Unfortunately, she is very, very impulsive and emotional, often falls into hysteria and even anger, furiously rolling her round eyes, like some lady from some Latin American melodrama like "Santa Barbara". (what is that, Ssamba also watched this vulgarity on TV, which she praised so much?) If a friend suddenly gets her, she can get nasty or move. By the way, I didn’t know that cotton wool is so popular among South Korean students. As far as I know, “cotton wool” is extremely unpopular with Russian students, they hate it fiercely and always find time and place to remember everything about its shortcomings.
Character Traits: Nam Ji Hwan
Stylish and decent boy, handsome and darling. One of the few males in this manhwa who can truly be called noble. The hair is a little bit Beatle style, almost always black clothes (noble black, heh) Nice face, cultured speech. Ji Hwan has essentially different roles in this manhwa. Then he saves Bek Sol A from a lustful male who tried to grab her home and rape her (and who suspiciously resembles her same lustful brother). Then he intelligently harasses Kim No Ryo, arranging a stage in front of her in the style of Pushkin's "Eugene and Tatiana", which (Kim No Re, not Tatiana) eventually gently but surely takes him away yourself. In general, one of the service characters to discharge or charge tension in the plot.
Drawing Style
Character graphics quality:
The characters of the 1st and 2nd plan in this manhwa are quite attractive in their appearance, although, unfortunately, this manhwa cannot boast of special picturesqueness - alas, but in most chapters all the characters are very cartoonish, although the manga is quite serious and rather instructive than entertaining. Facial features, clothes, hair - everything is drawn carelessly, like a child's hand. And this makes it difficult to enjoy the appearance of the beauty Bek Sol A, the pretty Kim No Ryo and other female characters in this South Korean art epic ... And the characters on the 3rd, 4th and 5th plan generally resemble heaps of some disgusting lilac and yellow substance. These walking creatures from lilac, violet, yellow and orange pieces of incomprehensible matter in places simply terrify with their eerie, pseudo-human appearance, which is betrayed only by the fuzzy outlines of their terrible bodies. Immediately I remember the horror cartoon about how the dog Scooby-Doo and the fellow Shaggy ended up in a cave with carnivorous people-mountains ... Not only are the characters all some kind of "unfinished", but also their appearance (types) is repeated. The lustful passer-by who wanted to take the drunk Beck Sol A looks like her brother. And her employer, with whom her brother brought her together, looks like herself. And brother Bek Seol Ah looks like her friend Ji Hwan. Well, what is it, but: Ssamba herself admitted in one of her extras that she borrows her characters from the TV. Was it really impossible to pick up more types there, and not to produce clones and surrogates? Apparently, she often watched there the only TV series in the style of our, Russian, "Beware, Modern", where male actors Nagiyev and Rost repeatedly play for all the characters at once (and play great, by the way: I recommend watching, however, 18+ such a series).
Background Graphics Quality:
Is this Seoul like that? It resembles some kind of regional Russian regional center, what it could be with a more cynical and prudent government ... Where are the skyscrapers? Where are the glowing AMOLED walls? Where are the signs of that very modern city life, besides electric locks and iPhones with flash drives? If it were not for those everyday little things that in this epic reading give out our high-tech modernity, then I would have thought that this manhwa is from the 70's or from the 80's. What about the houses? Everything is curved where it should be flat, and rounded where it should be square. No, well, I understand that Ssamba was in a hurry to finish this epic (apparently already anticipating her death from cancer), but, nevertheless, the background here is so unfinished and clumsy that it often resembles my own children's drawings at the age of 9-12 ...
Enjoyment
A very, very good plot-wise manhwa. Honestly and truthfully, clearly and obviously, it says that most of men (especially at a young age) are lustful and voracious party animals. Not all, of course, but many, since nobility and decency today, alas, are not held in high esteem and daily practice by every man ... This manga shows you, dear ladies, what will happen to you if you find yourself in the company of ordinary modern human males ... If you are a beautiful girl, and you were invited to a company of drinking men, it means that they want to drink and rape you in all places. If you are a beautiful girl, and you were invited to a restaurant by a cute boy, and he already has a dozen of all kinds of bottles with booze on the table, this means that he wants to give you a drink, take you home and rape you. Even if you are just a pretty girl and, having swallowed something strong, left the place of drinking and chill out on a street bench or pebble in a complete inadequate condition from ethyl alcohol, then an impudent boy may come up to you, take you home and, again , rape. So this manhwa is more instructive than entertaining - and that's why it gives a certain pleasure. The most amazing thing is that after reading this manhwa, I started to come across characters from this manhwa everywhere, in real life! Don't believe me? Here are just a couple of cases ... Once I was walking down the street from home, and suddenly I saw - it was them, Kim No Ryo and Hwang Hye Giyon! True, I saw them only from behind, but they looked exactly like in one of the frames of this manhwa! Further more! Quite recently, a month or two ago, I was returning home from a shop in another block - and suddenly I saw: she, Bek Sol A, in the flesh! This woman had exactly the same body, hair and even face profile! At the same time, she walked in a red dress up to her knees. Wow, that was a vision - well, just a cover girl, as they say in a case like this. I just wanted to go up to her, and, making beautiful and innocent eyes, ask her: "Mademoiselle, you did not act in the manhwa?" Haha ... I don't know what you think of these sudden meetings of mine, but, in my opinion, one of the features of a real great artist is when he (or his audience) begins to see his characters in ordinary, everyday life, even without being while familiar with them. Why print about Nam Ji Hwan, guys like whom I also occasionally see in my city.
Overall
The graphics are pretty kindergarten and leave much to be desired, especially the backgrounds. This manhwa is drawn by the plot, or rather, by several of the most "quiveringly sensitive" chapters from it. The plot is simply excellent, this is a real urban epic about the hardships of a modern urban woman in a Western-style city. Yes, what to hide: attractive men, who, upon close acquaintance, turned out to be real animals, were in the love story of my acquaintances, townspeople. It is very, very unfortunate that even in South Korea, male brutality of all stripes is also not uncommon in communication between the sexes. Although, of course, not all men in the world are like that, and this manhwa also colorfully tells about this. Thank you, Ssamba, you opened my already wide eyes to me that the modern Western world is still, still "The Man's World", as James Brown sang. And that the woman in him is still treated not as a female person, but as a human female - cruelly and possessively ... Who, no matter how you, was to tell us about this? Rest in peace, we will try to preserve and increase your, such unfinished, but such informative and instructive text-graphic work. May your Korean god have mercy on you for all your shortcomings and may your soul reach nirvana ... You gave me several dozen evenings of real life, and I want God to reward you with eternal life ... Truly so.
